This handy gadget makes you wonder why Ford doesn't just add this to their truck from the factory. There is a latch that allows the rear driver side rear seat back to be pulled forward but no easy way to get to it, this solves that issue. Granted, there isn't a ton of room back there, but there's enough to store a tool kit or similar items. The installation is pretty straight forward and can be done quickly using basically just one tool. The trickiest part is initially finding and pulling up on the latch pin so you can put the seat back down to install this item. The end of the latch pin is on the right hand side of the latch mechanism facing the rear passenger door (circled in red in the attached picture). Don't try and look for it on the left hand side of the latch. Once you locate and pull up on the latch pin using the closed end of any smaller wrench (I used a 10mm but you can use pretty much any size) the rest is easy. You remove the two factory torx bolts holding down the latch assembly, attach the supplied strap to the pin, install the frame of this item over the factory latch mechanism, put the latch assembly back in it's spot and reinstall the bolts. That's it. It's important to remember that this item goes on top of the existing latch mechanism not under it. There is a long notch that allows you to slide the frame over the factory latch. The fin looking portion of this item butts up close to the end of the pin so the strap doesn't slide off the end. The materials are sturdy and of high quality. Pretty simple concept but a great addition to your truck.

I can now use an extra 66% of my rear seat! It’s a PITA to get the rear seat unlocked and folded forward, and this kit is easy to install. I’m really glad I bought it, there’s a lot of room behind the seat that is now available to me. My 2017 XL came with a seat unlock only on the pax side rear seat. This allows me to now use the storage behind the entire rear seat. I added some 550 cord to the provided strap so I don’t have to fish for it. High quality, easy to install, very functional. Highly recommend

Does its purpose, really wish the pull cord was 3-4 inches longer. I have really big hands and I have a really hard time grabbing the one that’s with the unit. I thinking about adding a piece of rope to it so I can grab it. Then that that, if I get ahold of it, it unlatched the seat and allows to come forward. This is the reason for the four star review. I’m 6’5 with big hands. Maybe you have smaller hands and have no issues. The product is made of metal, very good quality. I’ll definitely keep it so if you’re on the fence, give it a shot, it definitely serves a purpose that Ford should have already gave us. I have a 2025 F150 crew cab XLT, no problems installing. Try to remember to make a mark or feel with your fingers to realign the peg the seat latches on cause it will be off after you install the bracket.

I am very happy with this release mechanism. It fits well and is easy to install. The operation works well. In the past I have just used a tie wrap as a release, which unfortunately came off often.
