Can this be used outdoor exposed to the elements, rain and wind?

This WiFi thermometer is non-waterproof, please keep it away from rain and direct sunlight.

Can anyone confirm if they've got this working with google assistant / google home? if not is this a planned integration? if so when?

Absolutely not! I purchased this for that reason because I use Google home for everything else. I was really disappointed when I found out it didn't work with Google. I will say that it uses the Govee app and it works great! I get notifications on my phone all the time when the humidity or temperature drops below my set levels. It refreshes every 30 mins so I am always up to date when away from home. I would highly recommend this unit even though it doesn't work with Google.

Does it report battery level? Or have a low battery level alert?

There is a battery level indicator on the home screen, when the battery gets very low it turns red. I don’t remember for sure but I think I got a low battery alert in my iphone. You don’t need to worry much about the batteries, ( these units are amazing). We have a smart home with a dozen or so govee sensors in all the duct work, attic, and every room. All have been in service over a year now. The unit inside our dehumidifier often sees 50f, and the units in the attic, and inside the furnace often see over 100f. We did have one mini mounted inside the dehumidifier intake that drained it’s battery every two days. Govee replaced that unit, ( they have great support). All the other units display battery levels over 3/4ths still, ( after a year of constant use), ps the things are dead accurate, ( both temp and humidity), more so than the other half dozen brands I tried. I do get temp and humidity alerts when any room sensor goes under 73f, over 80f, or over 60% humidity. But unfortunately the alerts aren’t automated yet thru our Alexa, ( on my wish list, lol). Currently we can only automate temp control only with our echo, (has a built in thermostat), but nothin with regard to humidity, ( humidity control is not incorporated via Alexa yet). Bottom line,,, I wouldn’t worry much about the battery life, ( it’s awesome). Currently if I get an alert, I just tell alexa to ‘heat the house’, or ‘dehumidity the house’ ( from anywhere on the planet, and thru our GMC truck, or my iphone, lol ). Pretty cool. PS, definately go with the wifi versions, (way better).

Does this have a max distance that it will work? For example, can I log into the app when I'm at work and see my temp/humidity readings on my phone?

Absolutely! You can be in California and get your readings in Maryland. There is no limit to how far you will be notified. You don't have to check because the app will send you push notifications every hour if you choose that frequency. Anytime your temperature or humidity drops or exceeds your preset levels, you will get a message across your phone notifying you of the change.

I have been using these Govee H5179 remote temperature / humidity sensors for a long time and am very pleased with their performance. My house has a detached garage where I have a refrigerator and I have one of these in the freezer compartment and another in the fridge compartment. They connect to the app via wi-fi so I can check them any time I want and be sure that the fridge is working properly. The 3-AA batteries in each sensor last for several months at a time. I've got another of these in a small greenhouse with a heater I use in winter and I can make sure that the temperature in there stays above freezing. As long as the batteries are good - and as I say, they last several months at a time - the sensors are reliable and keep my app updated. The app lets me see temperatures over the past hour, day, week, or longer which is helpful. Each sensor can be fine-tuned via the app to agree with your other thermometers, if you want to do that. I've stayed with these Govee units for 3 or 4 years now and like them.

Easy to set up the app. I set it up so that I get notifications when my temperature is over a certain limit. I live in a humid country where I need to monitor my home’s humidity when I’m away for a while (I turn on the AC remotely) to avoid mold. Quite happy with this device.

Super easy to set up through the app, and it connected to Wi-Fi in minutes. I use it to monitor the temperature and humidity remotely for my cats, and it’s been really reliable. The app alerts are quick, and I love being able to check readings anytime. Great quality and value! Definitely recommend if you need to keep an eye on your home environment or pets while away!
