You want a sculpted look in your fine furniture? This is the kit. I was commissioned to build a 42” round coffee table with a round base. The top was simple enough, glue up a panel and cut a circle. The bottom was a major challenge. A spherical shaped round base 14” diameter at the equator and 12” tall, all in white oak. I don’t have a lathe big enough to swing a nearly 50 lb blank. So I had to improvise. I built a fixture to spin the blank and an arm swinging from the bottom of the fixture anchored directly under the center of the blank. The arm had an angle grinder fixed with a movable radius on the arm. That way I can achieve the correct radius. These cutters, grinders, sanders were the perfect tools for this project. Take it slow, it bites.
