My Utmost for His Highest: Classic Edition Paperback – November 1, 2012

I'm surprised that this item does not have a review yet considering there are many other print versions that do. My guess for the reason is that this particular item is listed as a paperback. It is not paperback, but bound in an imitation leather. The imitation leather looks classy and the print inside is even better with modest margins. I also purchased the journal version of this and gave it as a gift to family because I wanted a copy for them and I preferred not having the larger margins with the ability to journal in it. I prefer just enough margin to write a side thought evoked or spiritual conviction and this item meets that need perfectly. The pages have a three color theme: brown, black and white. The pages have decorative fogy brown on white background boarding the text in black. This looks very nice and is not distracting because the design is very light.This is a milk, meat and potatoes type devotion. It's great for all believers and you most likely won't be disappointed if you give this author a try. Oswald chamber's daily devotion is a well known classic. I give thinks for his obedient work and that through this work the spirit will continue to guide me and build me up for our church and the Lord's kingdom.This item was a great price at $10. The item retails for 19.99 as marked on paper sleeve with barcode.

These daily readings compiled from Oswald Chambers' writings and talks by his wife after his death are just as powerful today as when he first penned or spoke them. This particular edition is of the best quality. The cover is beautiful as well as sturdy; it will last a reader a lifetime. The paper used for the pages is a nice weight and thickness, and the font is exceptionally easy to read. This edition of this wonderful book makes a great gift; I've given two of them as gifts, combining one of them with the story of Oswald Chambers' life (Abandoned to God).

Many spiritual daily readings make you feel good, lift you up, and get you ready for a great day. This book is my "meat and potatoes" of daily reading. Chamber's writing makes me dig deep into my faith. He enlightens me, challenges me, and makes me questions my life and service to God in a most positive way. He has brought to my attentions aspects of my daily living that needs correction. Things that I had never even questioned before. He reaffirms the things that I am doing right. This book has been nothing less than total spiritual growth, strength and encouragement platform for me.

This is hands down one of the best daily inspirational books I've ever read. The messages are so penetrating, they cause you to deeply examine who you really are, and who Jesus is in your life. It reminds us that nothing is more important than our relationship with God; not our children, parents, careers, homes, health, wealth...NOTHING! If we surrender to this principle and place God as priority in our lives all else will be aligned. Each daily message drives this point. God is doing a mighty work in me and I am all in!

A different kind of devotional. I think of it as a very spiritual devotional with compelling questions by the author that encourage contemplation about all aspects of our daily walk with the Lord; from our thought life to practical application. I can't read more than one page without the words adding a new dimension to questions I thought were resolved. It will make you grow spiritually. That's why I highly recommend it. It's probing more than accepting of our in-common thoughts, words and deeds.

I chose this for a gift and ended up getting more later since it's a great size with a very handsome cover, suitable for both men and women or teens. The print is a great size for easy reading. I've ordered more for our family and gotten ourselves the same one. It sits on out on a table in our room with a few other special books. Besides being nicer than I expected, this classic is excellent reading for the spirit and soul every day!

I have been reading My Utmost For His Highest daily since 2008. Then, for reasons I have yet to determine, my black lab chewed it up into small pieces.This is the only original text version, other than one available in paperback, as written by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900's, and published by Barbour Publishing back in 1963. I have received a version with the new Up To Date language as they call it, and it was just not the same experience when reading this book. I had grown accustomed to the language of the early 1900's as originally written, and I feel that the newer translations took a few too many liberties in trying to make it current.This is a beautiful and well done copy of the now out of print original.

It's good for those who like a very traditional, classic version of this devotional with Bible verses in King James version (not New King James). I found it hard to understand because the devotionals are written in the English of the early 1900's. Since I was buying this as a grad present for a high school grad, I thought that she would not be able to understand some of the phrases in the devotional.
