I bought this because I had read somewhere on the internet that it can be used in a recipe to get rid of dust mites. I am prone to getting a stuffy nose at night, which leads to poor sleep quality, and have tried many things to get rid of these mites: hypoallergenic bedding, a special bed vac to be used daily on the sheets, frequent washing and airing of bedding, frequent new pillows, daily dusting of the whole room, vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter...it goes on. So this recipe calls for 20 drops of Eucalyptus oil (not any old sort, the australiana one) and three drops of washing-up-liquid in a spray bottle filled three-quarters full with water. Give it a shake. So I got a good spray bottle that holds about a pint and has a fine spray. Every morning I pull the sheets right back and spray the mixture into the air above the bed, so that a fine mist settles on it. Then I leave it for a couple of hours to dry and air before making the bed. Then I spray again. I spray around the rest of the room while I am at it. This only takes a couple of minutes, it smells lovely, and I am sleeping soundly for the first time in lots of years. I cannot say that the spray is really killing dust mites. It may just be the placebo effect causing me to sleep better. But the room does feel calm, and I love the subtle smell.
