Wow. I'm blown away by the rich sound this little radio has. POSITIVE: 1. Build quality: This radio has an exquisite finish. The selection of materials is on point and delivers a premium feel. From the clickiness of the back-lit buttons on the top to the volume/selector knob. The wood is very nice, smooth, and with horizontal stripes pattern. Lastly, the weight of the device tells you a thing or two about the quality of this system. 2. Outstanding design: Beautiful color screen with a nice matte finish frame sporting the Sangean logo on top and the two USB type-A ports on the bottom along with a 3.5 headphone jack. (Cool tip: You can configure the screen to be black and white from the settings menu, and it instantly transforms the look and feel of the radio, give it a try!) The grill protecting the speakers is solid and completely hides the speakers themselves, creating an uninterrupted metallic mesh that extends on both sides. They flush seamlessly with the wooden body of the radio. 3. Connectivity: Internet radio, Spotify Connect, Cloud Audio services such as Amazon Music, Tidal, Napster, Deezer, etc. It also has Bluetooth and USB support for your FLAC, and MP3 files. Speaking of which, yes, you can set up UPnP playback from your computer/laptop. 4. Sound: Wow. Plain wow. This radio sounds better than a Bang & Olufsen speaker I've used in my bedroom. Specifically speaking, the mid-tones are so rich and crisp. It also has a nice bass for those who enjoy techno and other fast-paced genres. The radio has an equalizer featuring five presets and a manual control where you can set the gain/loss that you desire. I'm enjoying the Jazz preset. It highlights the voices, guitars, trumpets, and saxophones very nicely. I notice that the sound does not change as I walk around the room; therefore, I can say the rich sound is there regardless of your proximity or position in the room. (Please, be aware that I'm saying room. If you are in a 1,000-square feet living room, the experience will be different) 5. Software: Simple, easy to use. The volume knob also acts as a selector, and you can press it down to confirm/return depending on which screen you are on (Similar to the BMW iDrive selector knob from the 2010s). When the radio is on standby, it can display the time (It supports analog and digital layout, and you can also choose the color). If you have weather information configured, the radio will display it altering the clock/weather a few times per minute. A row of buttons underneath the knob allows you to access the equalizer, bedtime mode, skip forward/backward, standby, and your five presets. An additional row contains home, alarm, and local radio buttons. Observation: Spotify Connect is the only one built-in (It does not require a separate app to work). For All other cloud services, you need to install the companion app on your phone (It supports iPhone and Android), and you need to log in with your credentials the first time. Once you finish setting up your cloud services, you can play them on the radio. Negative: 1. No Compact-Discs. The saying goes, “you can't have everything in this life,” this is true with this wonderful radio. Supporting CDs would have made this radio the PERFECT system for a bedroom or a small living room. Life is about compromises, and I've learned to love this radio without this function. 2. Tidal does not sync album art. This probably can be fixed with a system update (This radio supports OTA updates). For the time being, Spotify, Internet Radio, and podcasts show album art perfectly. Tidal is the exception. It will show the artist, song, and album names but no picture. I'm okay with it, As long as I can play my songs. CONCLUSION: Do yourself a favor and buy it. You won't get this quality and set of features for this price. OBSERVATION ON SHIPPING: This radio ships with its manufacturer packaging. That is to say, and everyone will know you buy it. This thing laying on your front porch unsupervised is just asking to be robbed. Especially when the manufacturer's packaging shows what a beautiful system is inside, keep an eye on your order! 👀

I have had a few WIFI radios in the past and most are flaky when connecting to the online stations. But, this Sangean radio was flawless. I own an old Sangean SW radio and it is good quality so I expected the same here. It did not disappoint. Right out of the box, I plugged in and powered up. The three step on-screen setup found my wifi, and within a minute I browsed to a JAZZ station and streamed. The sound quality is clean for a small cabinet. Not lots of bass, but the built in EQ helped. Connecting to bluetooth took a bit of patience but once it found my phone, it worked well. The iPhone app connected quickly once I had wifi and bluetooth activated. For troubleshooting, which I did have to do briefly, I just went into settings and FACTORY RESET. So if for some reasons the internet stations don't populate, reset and it all comes back. As for the owner's manual, it's as brief as you would expect from todays offerings. Just enough to get you going. Overall, this is a good radio and one I don't hesitate to recommend.

I really wanted to like this radio. It's a nice design, good looking and the sound quality was very good. However, it would not hold a radio station. It would find the station but after 30 seconds it would lose the connection. It would then try to reacquire the station but would be unable to do it. The only way to get the station back was to re-input the station call letters. This would reacquire the station but again only for about 30 seconds. This happened with every station I tried. I sent the radio back. Too bad, as I said, it's a nice-looking radio and the sound quality (while it lasted) seemed good, but, if it can't hold a station, it's not of much use.
