Extremely Satisfying and Extremely Affordable
Having just purchased my 18-200mm lens I needed a hood since Canon does not include one. Canon's is $52. This one is $6. I'm all for Canon products, but why spend an unnecessary amount of money? I am very impressed with this hood, and it fits very securely on my lens. As other reviewers note, the hood is a little bit wider and provides space to remove the lens cap. There are not any dots or indicators to line up while mounting, but this really isn't a big deal for I quickly learned where to place it before turning. When it's on, it's on, and I do not experience any wiggle. Although when inverted for storage there is some play, but for me this isn't an issue. For the price and functionality I absolutely recommend this lens hood.

dont pay your dollars for the canon hood
Will add one more positive review for this hood - so here it goes. Pros: 1. VFM - Did not find it cheap. Construction is acceptable. 2. Does its job. Got myself the Canon 18-200 general carry around lens and this hood has never come off. 3. 5 USD - am from a country where 1 USD ~50 bucks. So every dollar counts. This is better than a Canon hood for me. 4. Bayonet hood - way better than something that needs to be threaded. Cons 1. Reverse mounting could have been better - the hood coes not hug the lens. So storing it might be a problem sometimes. Not with me even with the small Canon 2400 bag that I carry around. 2. What else - did not come with icecream !!!! Overall a must buy if you have the Canon 18-200.

More than adequate alternative to Canon's hood.
I recently picked up a Canon 18-200mm lens and wanted the tulip hood (which should come with the lens but doesn't for some reason). However, the cheapest price I could find for the hood was $25 and most places had it listed for much more. I simply couldn't justify spending that kind of cash for what amounted to a tiny piece of plastic. So, I did some research (which included reading the other Amazon reviews for this product) and decided to pick up the Fotodiox unit. Some other tulip hoods which claim to be compatible with the Canon 18-200mm lens aren't actually bayonet models. Instead they screw on to the front of the lens making it a pain to store when not in use. The bayonet models, like this one and the stock Canon, allow for a quick removal and reversal of the hood for simpler storage. This works superbly on the Fotodiox hood with one exception: there is no "red dot" to help you align it with the "fat" flaps on the top and bottom (as other reviewers have mentioned). However, once set, the hood uses a quarter-turn to lock in place so this is hardly a problem. My one complaint is that this hood is a good bit wider than the lens on which it is installed. It does not hug the lens when put on in reverse. This obviously isn't a problem when actively shooting and doesn't seem to cause trouble when storing the lens when it is mounted on the camera. The extra diameter does come into play when storing the lens separately from the body. One plus to this extra width, though, is that it does make it easier to reach your lens cap if you forget to take it off before sliding on the hood. Overall this hood from Fotodiox is a great alternative to Canon's hood. It is significantly cheaper and retains basically all of the same features.

Sturdy, good size!
Works well with me 18-200mm! Pretty sturdy, and it works with a filter on your lens (I am using Zeikos filters). The hood is a good size; not too big nor too small- it's the perfect size! If you wanted to use manual focus with the hood on backwards, you'd have to be at least at 50mm. I'm so glad I paid only a FRACTION of the oem ones! These fit in my Case Logic Zoom Holster bag too! Good purchase; you won't regret it!

Manufacturing defect
I thought getting this product would be a great buy, but like the other comments, this thing is threaded wrong! This must be a defective batch from the manufacturer and they are dumping it. Sorry give a bad review, but we were sold a defective product. Sigh! Update: 7/11/12 I don't get it. I would give the seller 5 stars for a quick follow-up and they reshipped a new one to me. But the new one had the same defect. So like my original review, I think this is a manufacturing defect. The seller should tell the manufacturer. I upped the star rating from 1 star to 2 stars for seller customer service.

Good for the price
The price is good but as some other customers have stated it does not stay on the lens very well when it is in the storage position. I have had mixed results in using it but that is due to me learning how to I think rather than the hood itself. Again for the price you can't beat it.

Works as advertized for the price.
My wife and I bought this instead of the full price Canon "tulip" design lens hood for 10 times the price. This lens hood does it's job very well. It feels sturdy enough and you can tell it's made of plastic. The mechanism inside that allows this hood to latch onto the end of the lens works very nicely. I had one instance where it was slightly off the track and I had to remove it and try again. I also had one instance where the plastic spring (there are two of these, on on each side) popped out and fell on the floor as I was removing the hood. We now just leave it in place (mostly) and don't bother with it. As long as you are careful putting it on it stays on and works nicely. We have had this on and off several times and have owned it for a month or more, several shooting sessions all over the place. Works as advertised.

Nice Lens Hood for price
Great fit and funtion - use it on my Canon 60 D without any issues. Would recommend purchasing it on Amazon as the price was more affordable than other retailers. Sturdy and better made than any big box retailer brand they sell in their store...I'm looking at you Best Buy.

Encaja perfectamente.
