3M Filtrete Air Conditioner Filter, 15-Inch by 24-Inch (9808-12)

So it's only been a little over 3 weeks and I've already had to replace it with a new sheet of Filtrete. I'm attaching a picture of the old one and the new one lying on top of it to illustrate the difference. It filled up with dust so quickly it was unbelievable, which you can view as a plus or a minus. On the one hand, there's that much less dust in the air, but on the other I'm looking at a future of $10/mo in air conditioner filters.I've decided to try and put a thicker Carbon Pre-Filter on it before the Filtrete filter and see if that makes a difference.Original Review 9/13/15:Just thought I'd mention that you need really sharp scissors to cut this even remotely cleanly. I went through three pairs and only the third one from a sewing drawer was sharp enough to cut it without tearing and badly fraying the edges. Other than that, it seems to be as advertised.

All of the positive reviews for this product are absolutely true.I have two Frigidaire window AC units in NYC and for several years I would get massive accumulations of dust on my furniture and allergies + sneezing when using the factory filters during the summer months.Upon purchasing and installing these 3M Filtrete filters in my units (I inserted them over the factory filters), the dust accumulation I used to get was dramatically diminished to where buildup on my coffee table and floor was negligible. My sneezing and eye / lung irritation also decreased to almost zero.I replace these at the beginning of each summer (each of the two included 15 x 24" sheets can be cut in half to fit my units) and I am always amazed by how dark grey and dust-coated these things are after 2-3 months of use.Awesome and worth every penny. I hope that 3M never stops manufacturing this great product.

Good filter. I use it as an additional layer of filtration with my air purifier and I attached photos to show how much of dust it traps after only 300 hours of purifier's work. One photo is brand new filter and another one is after 300 hours of purifier work in the small closed bedroom.

I put some Velcro on the corners of my air unit where I want the filter to cover the air intake, does a very good job of catching the impurities and my many pet hairs floating about, and cleans easily, sticks to the male Velcro pads, (If that is a correct term) or the prong-sided Velcro material.

I use these for my Hamilton Beach TrueAir Allergen-Reducing Ultra Quiet Air Cleaner Purifier with Permanent HEPA Filter (04383A). I cut them down to fit over the filter and it collects so many particles! It's surprising to see the buildup of dust and cat hair after just a few weeks, but we were breathing that. When we lived in an apartment with three cats we would use the above air purifiers (three of them) with the Filtretes. You could not tell we had cats because the air was clear.

Well, you’re in the right place!I bought this for the window unit in my bedroom. Since I also have an air purifier with spare carbon filters I decided to turn this filter into a 3-stage filter. I cut this filter to fit my unit, then I cut a carbon filter, and I kept the original filter. Combind this makes a filter that’s about a quarter of an inch thick (5mm). The other two filters will ensure this 3M filter lasts longer by collecting the larger particles. Together they do not negatively impact airflow and they’ll help keep my room smelling clean and allergy free. I’ve got this filter installed on a window unit that runs 24/7 on energy saver mode and it runs once per hour at 73°.I’ll come back with an update in a few months to give a complete review.I hope this review was helpful.

Using in the air purification towers I bought, after a week had a significant amount of dust and crud so working well. The complaints for this product are all from people that obviously didn't read the description of the product. It's a CUT TO FIT PREFILTER....it has no framing and not meant to be used in place of a standard filter.

I use these for window A/Cs in an apartment. I change them every 1-2 months during summer. The filter captures an amazing amount of particulates. This filter is very thin (like a thick paper towel) . If your window A/C unit has the usual washable permanent plastic filter screen; you MAY be able to tape a Filtrete filter right on top of it. I've done this with 2 different A/C units, & it filters out so much more than the reuseable filter screens. Just insure that you have enough room in your A/C fliter slot to tape the Filtrete filter over the included washable screen. You might try a paper towel first(just to assess the fit, not as a filter!!); if it won't fit back into your A/C ,then don't bother trying to get this Filtrete to fit. On both my A/Cs it was no problem.

Solid value and easy to use

I have bought 2 of these from warehouse deals. Did 2 air conditioners in the house twice this summer. Its amazing what they catch.I believe it has helped my allergies.

I have two dogs, that shed A LOT and a cat. I have two window A/C units in my apartment, alone with two air purifiers.

Probably does a good job of catching dust but may be too restrictive for some A/C window or RV A/C's.

We bought this to use with dehumidifier and works great!

These filters are excellent!!!

Very thin

They are moderately effective in filtering out pollen.

They work and I change them monthly. I cut them to size and attach using magic tape as per the instructions.
