Not a fragile cheap looking mic.
When the product arrived, I was surprised by the microphone's size. I was actually expecting to receive a small and flimsy piece of plastic. The mic was comparable to those on commercial public service handheld radios. It is very sturdy and it will last a long time. It has a coiled cable that helps keep it out of the way. The sound quality was another surprise. The sound was clear with good intonation and plenty loud. I am very pleased with the mic.

Works great, plenty loud
Works well with the new UV21R HTs I bought for Christmas. But these finally arrived today, a week after Christmas. That being said, these speaker mics work well plenty loud for sure. It is a basic one button/PTT, oh wait, what is that button on the top. Hmm, nothing about it in the packaging it came in, nothing about that button in the abbreviated HT manual, I use that term loosely. Okay, let’s check the Amazon add page for it, nope, no mention at all about this “alien” button. It is shown with the other images in Amazon, but nothing to indicate what that button is. So, I pressed it when it is connected. Turns out it is another PTT button. I have been holding this mic in all sorts of hand positions to try to figure out why there is a PTT button on the top of the mic, in addition to the standard PTT button on the side. Oh well, the mic works great. Just thought I’d have a little fun talking about that odd button.

Perfect for a handheld radio
Husband purchased for hunting season so he wasn’t having to constantly use the handheld. Size is perfect, easy to use, and no echo. Don’t think it lasted all season, however it worked well when it did.

Good for dm-1701
Works well, cable not as long as I would like. Seems lightweight but durable. Sound quality is good enough, simple plug and works with dm-1701

Waste of money, WAAYY too quiet!
I have to wear earplugs for my job, so I wanted to put a speaker closer to my head so that I’d have a better chance of hearing it. I will NEVER hear this speaker in a million years at this volume! Even just sitting at home, I cannot make out what people are saying on the radio over the sound of my A/C on max volume. It’s legit like 10% of the volume of the stock speaker on my BF-F8HP. I’m so disappointed. This seems to be a product geared towards people who will be outdoors. I can’t imagine trying to hear anything on this thing over rain, wind, or if in the car, road noise. It’s no doubt sturdy, but what good is it in this case? Nevermind the earplugs, this thing is unusable and pointless. I can hear the stock radio speaker better from my hip than I can hear this thing cranked to max and next to my head!
