Kenwood KAC-M1814 4-Channel Compact Bridgeable Marine/Motorsports 400W Max Power Digital Amplifier

I've had 200+ watt Pioneers installed for about a year with a Kenwood head unit, sometimes when playing content from my phone I really had to crank the volume up to hear it well enough. Now with this amp connected, I barely need to go above 25% and it has fantastic audio quality. I've added the Kenwood compact sub to my setup so the Pioneers handle the mids and highs (and some low Hz), the compact sub handles the lows - all setup using the crossover in the head unit. You really have to tune your setup if you expect this to sound good - go through your head unit settings, set the speaker size, distance, etc... Don't leave everything to default. I set the line sensitivity at about .3 (which is about 65-75% turning of the dial). HPF off so I can change settings on the fly at the head unit. Oh and the size - this thing is so compact, I was able to tuck it under the dash behind the 'ol glovebox. Everything you need is included, RCA cables, wiring harness, even some zip ties. Like I said, when you tune it against the settings in your head unit, the audio quality is fantastic.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Have several of these in various vehicles. Compact size easily fits under larger center consoles and car seats with air space for cooling. Class D amp with 15A fuse, so low power consumption. Provides good clear amplified sound for car door and dash speakers. Gains adjusted near mid position, crossovers at 80Hz. Using separate dedicated mono amps for subwoofers. Not a competition or audiophile amp, but seems solid for a daily driver.

Used on a boat with a fresh ground, it still had some noise at silent, but at volume, speakers (Polk MM652) are loud and clear. No true complaints.

This product is small but it is powerful. I hear my music clear as day at 80 + mph. I used it with HDKit14 power acoustic radio and Rockford Fostgate speakers.

I needed an amp that had a small footprint. The installation was easy, the wiring came in a pigtail. The only issue I have is you cant use a 10 gauge hot wire, or ground. I had to swap out for a smaller wire. The sound is great, with a little tweaking, I am running 4 ,6 inch speakers with tweeters, no sub. Great amp for the money.

Defective on arrival. Would not power on.

This is the second of these handy little units I've installed. Made a huge difference on my 05 Road King and did the same on my 16 FLHTKL. Didn't realize I was going to have to pull the whole fairing apart to swap speakers and all THAT, but if you're going to do it.... The biggest issue I had was the splicing and soldering of the individual wires for the speakers. I was going from a Soundstream Reserve HDHU14+ into the amp and then into the actual speakers. Was able to take my RCA outputs directly from the HU into the amp and then splice the output wires directly into the harness between the Soundstream and the stock HD audio harness. Thankfully all wire colors matched up to simplify things. Added some JBL speakers all the way around. On this install, I did need to patch in the Power control (blue) wire to alert the amp it was time to turn on. I wired it into the heated handgrips so it would be a switched control. On my Road King install, the input strength automatically kicked on the amp. With the low-power RCA inputs on this FLHTKL install, the amp needed a heads-up. Was originally not happy as the sound was real muddy in spite of the more powerful amp and speakers. NOTE: If you have this problem, turn OFF your equalizer settings. You should have plenty of power to drive those speakers and not really need the equalizer. Besides, as in my setup, with 6.5" speakers, you're NOT going to really be thumping any bass - no matter HOW much you try to pump it up. IMMEDIATELY became much cleaner and REALLY kicked! Again, super happy with THIS install. It may not satisfy the audiophiles out there, but for me rolling down the road and wanting to hear some Molly Hatchet at highway speeds? It's just the thing. VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER!

Muy bien sonido y una potencia aceptable. El amplificador tiene un tamaño pequeño adaptable a cualquier sitio. Lo único que destacaría en su contra es que los cables de conexión se quedan cortos. En mi caso me los tuvieron que sustituir por otros más largos, pero en general estoy satisfecho. Buen sonido Kenwood y calidad.

Surprisingly good for the price. I put this in my boat and what a difference! Much Louder, higher quality sound and adds a decent amount of thump for a 6" round x 4 channel set up. Exactly what I was looking for. Ideal for your mid-high range speakers imo.

Had a short right out of the box, blew a couple of my speakers, was made to have to contact seller for return, seller is very horrible to deal with

I've ordered several of these for a stereo kit that I build for an obscure vehicle, and I have been impressed time after time with these units. The 4 channel setup is perfect for powering any speaker set you want to hook it to, full range of gains on volume control and bass, and the price is just right.
