You can trust Ram X-grip.
It may cost a bit more than other phone mounts but it's never failed me. I have an X-Grip on my motorcycle and it has never dropped my phone or come loose.

Confused why RAM this problem
Great concept, but made very cheaply. The most important parts are made out of very very thin plastic. Would buy again if RAM made out of better parts. Made it through one bike ride before this mount fell apart....

People will complain about anything
In response to the negative review about having to glue the rubber strip yourself: This product is universal because they give you several rubber strips of varying thickness; you use the appropriate rubber strip to shim the mount, and that allows this product to fit most handlebar diameters. If they glued it for you at the factory, you wouldnt be able to choose the one best suited for your application. I have installed a lot of handlebar accessories in my time and most of them take this approach. It cuts down on manufacturing costs because they dont have to make a separate mount for every type of handlebar.You can even forego the glue if you want to and just rely on friction to keep it in place.The mount itself is solid, just like all other RAM products. I use it on my enduro mountain bike. I also have X-Grips for my off-road truck, my sedan, motorcycle, and my road bike. Its a simple design that just works. All the other ones are size small, but I decided to try a large this time. I am happy to report that either will fit my Samsung Note 9. You may just need to experiment with the positioning to avoid accidental volume rocker pressses, since it grips your phone by the sides.
