One of the better AI books around - technical expertise and business acumen. Read it.
This is a great read. Well written. Tone and style for the layperson.I have been through a bunch of AI books, from building LLM's through starting out , through to business applications through to AI in leadership. Kavita nails it with her 'prescription without diagnosis leads only to disappointment' approach. This is the crux of many failed AI implementations today...learn the look, where, how and how to measure the outcome of AI along with detailed segways into preparation and ML lifecycles from her approach. The chapter on real life case study and applications brings a lot of rigour to the topics discussed.I have kept this book on call and referred back to it a fair bit, if you are serious about business and AI implementations, you should too.

Thoughtful, experienced guidelines for defining AI in modern business with framework for approach
This book does what I wish more did: It immediately begins in a conversational tone to encourage a moment to pause and think about the current hype that we may ingest on topics around AI. Far too many writings explain AI and machine learning as a "magic bullet" which can solve any problem -- all with a small or nonexistent budget. Dr. Ganeson dispels these myths with a balance of experience from industry to academia. For example, Chapter 2 concretely defines the difference between general and narrow intelligence in a way that is useful for anyone considering developing advanced capability in their enterprise. If I could wave a magic wand, immediately all executives in the world would see that a pamphlet based on Chapter 4 (Myths) would appear in their pocket so that more time could be spent on problem definition and what is truly possible rather than chasing miracles which are destined to fail.Throughout this book are excellent figures which illustrate the concepts being covered. Written in direct and concise language, most arguments are direct and applicable such as the warnings about the pitfaill of "AI for AI's sake". Finally, besides proper definitions and realistic expectations, the latter portions of this book provide an actionable framework for discovering and then implementing AI solutions. After all, if I could paraphrase Dr. Ganeson, too many organizations dive head first into developing solutions without forethought and planning about the goals, metrics and promise. Such efforts are likely destined to fail without adequate planning while the latter portions of this book provide a framework to prevent such failures.

Easy reading for non-techies; I learned so much
Kavita Ganesan has done a masterful job of writing a fascinating guide to AI in business. I personally feel that everyone in leadership positions in businesses big, medium, or small should read this. It is laid out in a logical order. She tells you what to expect and what you will learn. And you will learn a LOT including what not to do. And the book isn't filled with jargon; I so appreciate that I can follow along easily. I say "masterful" because she is a pioneer in the fields of AI and data science research. Yet she is able to write for the rest of us, too.

An Accessible and Informative Blueprint For Executives Considering An AI Strategy
"The Business Case For AI" by Kavita Ganesan, Ph.D. is a thoughtful and accessible blueprint for executives to consider as they build out their AI strategy. From an overview of what AI is, to dispelling myths and then developing criteria to help managers select projects for AI, this book helps get the conversations going in today's enterprises. AI is not a panacea and Dr. Ganesan is quick to point out that sometimes all a business needs is a better software solution. However, for those businesses who are able to capture high-quality data and then leverage it for a better client experience, they will emerge the winners in the long run.Consider the book essential if you are an executive who needs to interface with data scientists, whether they are in-house or being contracted to help implement an AI strategy.
