The soft strand coated wire was highly recommended by many people so I decided to try it. It works incredibly well to hang canvases, pictures, ect. It does not hurt your fingers when your wrapping the wire and is easy to cut to size. I will definitely be buying this product again for future projects. It is worth spending the extra money.

The coating makes it easy to attach to D rings. It also helps to prevent kinking (which is common with uncoated wires). The coating also eliminates finger pricks as you wrap the hanging wire. This is a quality product that is a pleasure to use and makes a professional looking hanging mount easy.

The wire itself is great! I used it to hang two fairly heavy framed watercolor paintings and it was easy to handle and held up well. My complaint is, the spool wasn't wrapped or secured so the wire came unwound in the shipping envelope. What a mess! I would have thought a new spool of wire would have come wrapped so the wire stayed secure in shipping.

I produce fine art photography and digital art on canvas for sale & display at art shows. Most Art Guilds require you to wrap the ends of the picture hanging wire with tape to avoid cuts when hanging your pictures. I no longer have to go through the added time of wrapping the ends because this wire is coated and does not produce sharp edges. The #5 wire is a good "all purpose" wire. It will hold 43 lbs. but is not too thick for smaller pictures. It is easy to work with and easy to wrap the ends. It is strong and durable for all picture hanging applications. Buying this on Amazon is also a real money saver. It costs about $0.07 per foot on Amazon when purchased in the standard 500' roll. You can buy this at craft stores or hardware stores, but you will pay about $0.30 per foot in 10' packages. If 500' is too much for you, you may want to offer to share the cost with other people who hang a lot of pictures or members of your Arts Guild. I already sold over 300' at my cost to other Art Guild members and I will be placing an order for another roll. Overall this is a great product. I would highly recommend it. For extra strength, you should check out another Amazon product, the "Loos Cableware SL1-2 Aluminum Duplex Oval Crimping Sleeve Set for 1/16" Diameter Wire Rope (50 Piece)". If you use these crimping sleeves on heavier pictures along with the SuperSoftstrand #5 wire, your picture will be secure and will never unravel. It is recommended to use a crimping tool, but you can also use a good pair of heavy duty pliers to crimp these connectors.

I am delighted with this SoftStrand #4 wire. The task at hand was to hang 12"x18" framed photos in an exhibit -- 23 of them. They were in metal frames (16"x22"). With the glass, each weighed about six pounds -- well within the limits suggested on the wire's label. I hung them in a library where any failure could result in the public being exposed to shards of glass, and I needed to be able to sleep well. Even with the plastic coating, the #4 size wire is very unobtrusive, and I wouldn't be inclined to try a smaller gauge. It's very easy on the fingers. No pricks from wire strands after tying 46 knots and handling several hundred feet of the wire. Remarkable. I suggest using the knot pictured on the label on the wire's plastic reel. After a few tries, the knots proved easy to "tie." A set of needle nose pliers helps and will assist compressing the windings on the finished knot. Suggestion: since the label knot photo is too small to use for learning, use the roll-over zoom feature on the image on the Amazon.com website. Once enlarged by zooming, make a screen grab and print it. It's worth the time to get a nice big printed page to learn from. The framed photos on exhibit have been there for several days. There has been no slippage of the knots nor has there been any slipping out of level as there has always been with prior hangings (used 50# monofilament line). I'll attribute this to the plastic covering on the wire. It provides a level of tackiness that eliminates slip over the hanging hook. This is a superior product that exceeded my expectations and is made in the USA. Look no further and give it a try.

I bought this wire to hang my art. It is gallery quality, strong yet bends easily. The vinyl coating makes it rust proof. Sturdy wire that supports my artwork hanging on the wall very well, and it does not stretch out over time. There is plenty of it on the roll and it's definitely a good deal for the money.

As a first time hanger of pictures onto a picture rail, I did my research and decided this would fit the bill. Really easy to use and very happy with the excellent result achieved. And the pictures are still hanging after a month or so.
