I almost did not get this because of some of the negative reviews about how slow it filters and how easy the insert or pitcher would break on you. It is slow in the beginning, but once the filters are primed and soaked it filters faster. Don't expect to filter water in like a minute or two to drink right away. Let it filter and do it's thing! I have a separate 2 gal ice tea glass container with a spigot that I empty the water into once it filters. The one thing I do is I don't push the filter insert all the way down as it is a bit hard to pull out. You need to sort of rock it back and forth while pulling on it to come out. Don't hold it with one hand over the counter or else it will pop out and you will hit the counter and break the glass! Sit on the rug or couch and slowly pull and rock it back and forth with both hands to pull it out. You may also want to try injecting some water around the rim to help loosen it up. Do not use a screw driver to pry it up! The glass container is quite large and I just have the insert sitting on the rim as I don't push it all the way down. That way it gives me a little extra room for the water to filter and fill up. Also I can pull it out easily and hold it while I empty the water into my 2 gal container without the water in the filter spilling out. Once I do that I just top off the water filter so it's going at full capacity. Every time I go to the kitchen I just keep topping off the water in the filter. I have a separate water pitcher in the fridge filled as well as my 2 gal glass container filled and the filtered water pitcher ready to empty. It's a good quality filter and glass pitcher. It's says it filters the microplastics which is one of the main reasons I got this brand. The main filter will last about a year and the good thing is that when it needs replacing it will just stop filtering water so you don't need to remember. Just have a replacement filter ready. The main filter replacement after a year did not seem too expensive for how long it lasts. I did see other brands that were cheaper, but I don't know about their quality and don't want to take a chance!

This is a very sleek pitcher which looks great and I like that its made of glass. Its small enough not to take a lot of space in my smaller refrigerator and the water, though it takes long to filter a pitcher (an hour) tastes better than Brita in my opinion. I like that it filters bacteria too and the instructions on putting it together were good and necessary because figuring out how to insert the filter and get it set up wasn't intuitive for me.

People are not joking when they say it takes 3 hours to fill the pitcher. I did prime the filter properly. And have filled it a few times. The main issue isn't even that the water comes out about as slow as about 1 drip every 2 seconds. The problem is you have to fill up the pre-filter water holder 7 times to fully fill the container. If you only had to fill it once or twice you could just put it in the fridge and let it do its job. But I have to leave this thing sitting on my counter for 3 hours so I remember to add water to it 7 frickin times before its full. And no, this is not an exaggeration. Amazon forces me to drive to UPS to return items which is 45 minutes from where I life so I am stuck with this terrible product. And if you are just trying to eliminate plastics from your kitchen, keep in mind the water sits inside a plastic holder and both the filters are housed in plastic which the water passes through. When full, it weighs as much as a large cast iron pan. If you aren't going to the gym regularly, this may not be the best option.

I really like this water pitcher; it definitely makes a difference in the taste. The water tastes much cleaner and fresher compared to straight from the tap. I like how it's made of glass, which feels sturdier and looks a lot nicer than plastic. It’s been a great addition to my daily routine. The only downside is that it takes a while to filter each fill. If you're in a hurry or need a lot of water quickly, the wait can be somewhat inconvenient. But overall, the improved taste and quality make it worth it. Just be prepared to give it a little time!

Great water filter. Taste stays intact. That’s what I lie about lifestraw as a brand. Filter life is long and comes with all the instructions to help setup. No leakage or smell or even no lime sediments in the jar even after using it for 10days. Have been drinking 2 gallons each day consistently. FYI-please rinse and wash every part before even starting to drink from this jar.

Never have I been so impressed by a purchase. I wanted to upgrade my water filtration system, but I didn’t realize how much of an impact it would make the water taste so much better especially when you add a few lemon slices that I ended up drinking a lot more than I usually do. In fact I was drinking mostly sparkling water, which I hadn’t realized can actually be slightly dehydrating, especially if you have reflux issues by replacing most of the sparkling water with a lot more filtered clean water many of my underlying inflammation symptoms like runny nose, coughing reflux are all gone and doing some research I found out that drinking too much sparkling water, especially if you have a sensitive system can often cause these kind of problems I would not have shifted to drinking so much more flat water if the water didn’t taste so good what an amazing product. I’m so glad I got it.

Well... I bought this pitcher because our city recently upped the amount of "disinfectant" it's putting into the tap water and even filtered through our PUR faucet mount filters, it was horrible to drink - like burning the back of my mouth horrible. (I'm super sensitive to this sort of thing - for reference I can't stand bottled water because it tastes like plastic to me, so take these comments with a grain of salt.) I did some research and discovered that our city uses chloramine instead of just chlorine - it's a combination of chlorine and ammonia and it's much more difficult to filter out. Apparently it needs much more time in contact with the carbon to get the stuff out, and since you can't run water through a faucet mount filter more than once, I got this pitcher to try to to make the filtered tap water palatable. So the way we're using this is that I take water filtered through the PUR filter and run it through this pitcher. If I run it through once, I can still taste the disinfectant a bit, but if I run it through twice it tastes clean. That may say more about chloramine and my sensitivity to it than it does about this pitcher though. The comments about the slowness of this thing are true. It has gotten a bit better now that I've run about a dozen cycles through it, but it still takes 15-20 minutes to filter one batch - one batch is NOT a full pitcher, it's more like 16 ounces. I mean, I guess the micro-filter makes it slow, so I'm willing to put up with that, but it's making it really difficult to filter enough water to cook. Plus, we have a cat with kidney disease, and he wasn't liking the horrible tasting water either, so we have to filter water to keep his water dishes full. I haven't managed to get the thing very full before we needed to use the water, and I actually don't plan to because here's the deal - while the pitcher itself is glass, the filter housing thing in the middle is plastic - so if you fill it with more than 16-20 ounces of water, your water is still going to be sitting in contact with plastic! I mean it's great that the filter removes micro-plastics, but I'm not sure what good it does if the water is just going to sit in contact with more plastic! I guess I foolishly assumed that the filter was housed in glass - wrong! This seems like a major design flaw for something that's marketed as a way to remove micro-plastics. And the final problem is that the thing is 11.5 inches tall, and the tallest our refrigerator shelves can accommodate is 11 inches. It won't fit in the door either - it's 6 inches in diameter at the bottom which is about half an inch too big to fit in the door. We might be able to re-arrange the shelves, but I'm not sure it's worth it as I think we'll probably be investigating other types of filtration/purification systems. Sooo... it works, I guess. At least I've found a way to make palatable water for the time being, but the many hassles involved with using this thing mean that it's unlikely to be a permanent solution. Or maybe the city will turn down the level of disinfectant soon and it will all be a moot point!

Works great. Kinda slow but quickens as it’s used. Rip: fill at night and as you go. Stays clean; no issues with mold. Great alternative to under sink or system filtration system, but too small for family. If you drink a healthy or recommended amount of water daily, it’s good for one person.
