Highly recommend this book
This book and its characters were great. The story line kept pulling me along so I didn't want it to end. It touched me in ways I was not expecting. This will be one of those books that stay with me for a long time. The ending was satisfying and I wouldn't have change a thing. Thank you so much for Leota's story.

Well written except the ending a disappointment.
I enjoy reading Francine Rivers books and find them a great inspiration to me as a Christian. All her books are different, showing her writing talent. The ending of the book left me disturbed regarding the euthanasia of the main character. As a nurse this is unacceptable practice and does not happen in a hospital setting. The perpetrator was never caught and therefore could go on killing. Leota never lived to see her family healed from the anger in there lives. Felt this entire portion on book was unnecessary. Leota should have died at home with her family .

Redemption at the end
I have read several of Francine Rivers books, I went through a phase. It is said that experience teaches wisdom. I was disappointed when Leota felt she had the right to chastise her neighbor for giving her children African names. Incensed when she suggested that slavery came about through Africans selling their kinfolk. Offended when she felt the need to criticize the soloist in a church service who did not sing a song plain as it was written. The singer was black. Books are meant to captivate mentally and whisk us to a pleasant place, away from the daily noise we tolerate. This book promoted Anti abortion, her disdain for women’s rights, her belief that women should remain in the home to raise the children, her notion that a man’s pride must be preserved at any cost, and, that providing assistance for the poor encourages them to stay poor. Oh, and heaven forbid she would have a black woman with three children and a husband. Certainly would not fit the stereotype. Well at the least description of the garden gave me some ideas for my fall garden plans.

great book but I want more.
Loved the book and the characters. Leota was my favorite. As much as I loved it the ending left me wanting more. What is the future of Annie? Corban? Sam? Uncle George?

A REMARKABLE STORY OF SECOND CHANCES & FAITH
At first, I thought that this story was going nowhere, but how I was wrong and surprised how the story developed into a grand plan of redemption and forgiveness as only the author can describe!

Francine Rivers is a great author. I have read all her books and this one is so appropriate for our day and age. I will not say anymore except IF you want to know 'what I mean' ; you have to find and read it.

She is a phenomenal writer with a skill I have not found in this type of historical Christian novel and Leota's Garden is no different. The character are easy to relate to and the situations that they face are common to everyone. I have read every book she has written and if youhave not had the pleasure of being introduced to her books, don't be shy and give her a try.
