Throw away the hose, it's not vacuum line. They shouldn't include this accessory since it perceptively cheapens the product. I used 5/8 to match up with my system, so the I didn't use the 1/2" fittings, but the fittings are good quality. The catch can is nicely made and I added a drain valve by drilling and tapping the catch cup with a 3/8" npt. Once installed it would be difficult to get the can off. Now I can just flip the lever valve open. Others claim the aluminum will shed shavings after use or cross thread easy. I wouldn't worry about this. It's anodized nicely which provides a hard coat on all the Al. As for cross threading, just be careful, any careless person can cross thread steel too. Some say the dipstick is useless but it actually works, if I see the yellow/brown goop on it (see picture) I know it's time to clean. One person complained that it needed an o-ring seal for the dipstick. This is a low pressure vacuum system, and uses a tappered wedge seal like many water bottle lids use which is completely effective and I prefer since simple is better in this case. The bracket was worthless to me. I can't see it being that useful to any application. I welded together a bracket of my own. In the end it took a while to get everything I needed for the odd ball connectors on my Audi but it's done and is hopefully working. I'll check back after a few thousand miles. Update: After having this on for 20k miles it definitely collects a lot of gunk and and a some oil, my car only uses 3/4qt/10k miles. Most of what it collects is a emulsified oil & fuel mixture. It smells like paint thinner and kerosene. I added 2 stars back since it works so effectively, see picture above. When I poured this mixture into a clear tea bottle it does separate over time with about 70% water and a couple other layers of stuff on top. I found my drain valve became plugged and I need to add a larger valve with a least a 1/4" diameter through hole rather than the small toggle air valve with a 1/8" orifice. Since it wasn't draining properly through the valve, it filled to the top and my car began to smell like gas or exhaust on the inside. If you get this smell, clean your seperator. Once I cleaned it and put it back together the smell went away. I'll be checking this more often like every 3-5k. I think this is must have on the Audi pre 2016 engines that have carbon build up problems on the intake system and valves. I have the 2013 A6 with the 3.0 supercharged V6. It now 58k miles and I've been running this for 20k miles.

I was very skeptical about trying this inexpensive oil catch can from a few other reviews, but I'm glad I did. I just completed a manifold replacement and my old, original manifold, had at least a quart of oil sloshing around in it! And, it had leaked out making me think I had an oil leak! All from the PCV valve carrying heavy oil/gas vapor back into the manifold to get dumped back into the intake manifold and only partially burned...what a terrible thing to do to a throttle body, intake manifold and engine! So I looked for a inexpensive oil catch can to try. It's actually very good quality. The other reviews I read said to throw away the hose that comes with it. Well, they must have upgraded the hose to some good, steel braided hose, with a nylon weaved sheath. Very nice, and it looks good too. I used a large electrical cable lopper to cut it. The braid is sharp edged, be careful. I did throw away the small hose clamps, as not needed, but they did seems rather cheap in quality, but the can itself has a nice screw on bottom with an o-ring to seal it. I recommend you grease it lightly to keep from tearing it when tightening and loosening it. I did not use the included aluminum mounting bracket, as I needed a small custom mount for it, but it was nicely coated black. No matter what vehicle you have, you WILL have to get creative and find a place and a way to mount this. Keep your hose runs as short as possible. The can itself is anodized aluminum, so it will not rub off like paint. The last thing I did was to add a small o-ring to better seal the dipstick and I used Permatex liquid thread sealant on the hose barbs. It comes with three different sizes of hose barbs. The medium size barbs fit tightly on the included hose just fine. I saw no need for a hose clamp on them. It's only a slight vacuum after all. I was able to push the braided hoses into the 70 degree corner hose adapter fittings that came on my engine. (PCV valve output and manifold input) The catch can has markings for input and output. I'll update the review when I catch some oil with it. It HAS to work. You know, physics.. (UPDATE: After just 350 miles it has collected about a tablespoon or more of oil! (.5+ oz) This is outstanding. This equates to about a quart of oil per 20,000 mi. being poured down your throttle body and into your intake manifold. SO glad I bought and did this addition! )

Found that it works well easy to fit, had to buy 19mm hose apart from that the product is great,delivery was quick well done Amazon.

Installed this in a 2016 Kia Forte5. If you plan to install it in a similar kia or Hyundai, a) you can get the kit that comes without bracket (you won't needed as the can small bracket fits perfectly with the ground bolt on the passenger side strut tower), and b) the supplied hose won't work; it's quality, but the internal diameter is to big for the PCV valve and too small for the intake manifold. Also the hose is about 2.5 feet, but you'd need two hoses of ~3 feet for this project. In the end, I stripped the external braided jacket which allowe the hose to expand wider, so I could plug it to the intake manifold. But si plan to replace it with the proper diameter soon. I purchased a 3/8" ID hose for the PCV-to-Can connection. If you car has room (Fortes don't) close to the PCV and the intake manifold and the diameters match the supplied hose, you could probably get away with the length ( cut the hose in half).
