Plug and Play
Product works great. ARC works with HDMI-CEC on my Sony TV with android TV. Recognized the device right away and I’m able to change the volume using my TV remote. My Sony has a 900mA USB port and it worked fine on that without the included power brick. That said, my TV actually would recognize the device as a USB headphone amplifier. This was awesome as it meant I didn’t even need to connect the HDMI cable for ARC. Unfortunately, I found out that Netflix/Android TV does not allow the use of headphones while trying to watch Netflix shows. YouTube worked just fine but the moment I had this device plugged in Netflix refused to play any videos. Not a fault of this device. I assume it has something to do with piracy protection but regardless I reported it to Sony in case it’s a bug. All around useful product. Does what it said. Sturdy metal case.

Allows you to adjust volume on TV to external speakers!
It took a while to find this solution. I just wanted a way to connect my TV to external speakers, and still just use one remote control (the one for the TV). The TV has an optical audio out port, and an HDMI ARC port. The optical audio will not allow you to control volume with the TV remote, so that was out. The HDMI ARC port allows you to do this if you have CEC turned on in your TV settings. The piece I was missing was this converter (HDMI to RCA). The other converters advertised either did not address the volume issue, or they specifically indicated that it was not possible. This one confirmed it would work, and it does work as advertised. Very pleased.

Does the job
Does the job. LG TV recognize it as audio device, volume is adjusted using tv remote, audio quality is very good. 4 stars because: L/R channels are swapped on 3.5mm output. Colors are wrong on RCA outputs ( “L” left one is red, “R” right one is white, should be vice versa) Also, I’m getting a popping noise on my speakers when this thing is turned on/off. Don’t know - maybe it’s ground loop, maybe not. I just always leave it powered on to avoid the thumping noise. Shouldn’t be making noticeable change on electrical bill. I’ll update this review if something goes wrong with the adapter.

Intermittent functioning. A couple of weeks after writing this the device won't work at all now.
It is an easy solution. I didn't have any trouble connecting everything to my Samsung Smart TV. When it worked it worked very well. But I should have returned it when I could. Now I can't. I would often have to unplug the power and plug it in again to get it to work. Most of the time when I selected it on the TV it would show that it was active but I couldn't change the volume or mute it and I had to power it off and back on. Sometimes it was active when I turned on the TV. If it was selected it should always work when I turn on the TV. When the TV is turned off it doesn't default back to the TV speakers in the TV settings. Today it quit working altogether and I've tried everything I know to get it to work. I guess it's dead. I gave it 2 stars solely for the fact that the sound quality was good. But the reliability of mine was bad.

Audio clipping
Bought to use with 2022 model year X85K SONY television without analog audio outputs. Hooked up to an amplifier and analog bookshelf speakers. Works okay BUT at certain frequencies, it gets overwhelmed and clips the audio, causing a split-second but noticeable and unpleasant high frequency noise. Not good if you are listening to music from your smart TV to your speakers. Volume control using TV remote goes in 3 step increments, instead of 1. I will be trying a different brand since it is outside of return window.

power supply included!
This thing works! Make sure you use the included power supply or comparable 1.0A+(1000ma+) output PSU; using my TV's USB port (only 500ma) extractor would not link. Red LED indicates unit receiving power and blue light indicates Arc connection; both need to be lit. I don't use any external devices only the apps on the smart TV and have no problems with audio out from the extractor. Device is perfect if you want to use TV remote to control volume. My extractor inputs into a cheap tube preamp then to powered monitors and sounds great.

Works flawlessly with Samsung TV
So I've got a cheapo Samsung NU7100 TV which has very limited outputs and I was unable to control the volume of my external speakers with the TV remote nor my Roku one. Didn't want to buy an expensive receiver with it's own remote and no way was I going the soundbar route. Optical out was no use since it's set volume only, so I found out about HDMI Arc and decided I'd give an adapter a try. It actually works! Thought I would end up having to upgrade my chi-fi receiver that I connect my Pioneer bookshelf speaks to, but this allows control of volume with either of the remotes I have. Now I can play PS2 or use my Roku without having to get up to turn the volume knob on the receiver/amp - just follow the instructions in the description for Samsung TVs. Chuffed to bits. Time will tell how it holds up, but seems solid enough for a brand I've never heard of.

Works, but has flaws
While it does convert an HDMI ARC to analog audio signal without fuss, right off the bat I spotted two big flaws: 1) All the people saying their L and R RCA channels were reversed, that's the case for me too. White was Right, red was Left. Bizarre QC. 2) There's an annoying chime that plays every time the device toggles the HDMI handshake when you turn your TV on and off as normal. It's not persistent, but it's a big more than I'd like, and will probably drive me to eventually replace it with something else entirely.

Bought this for my X90k since it doesn't have any variable audio out. Very important that you not only turn on eARC and CEC in your Sony TV's settings, but also force PCM mode only! Otherwise the TV will say "yes I see an eARC device" but no sound will come out of it. The setting defaults to Auto1, there is also Auto2, and the third setting is PCM-only - this is what is required to get it to work!

It does not work with Sony Bravia TV. Only get sound from USB mem stick but no sound from off air tv or external hdmi sources.
