I bought this same item for my son and sent it back Yamaha psr-E303 is a older version but way better as it has a learning feature and a midi connection to connect to a PC OR MIXER and had no issues with it. All the best..

It has synth keys but can be used as a midi controller.

I have used several headphones, as long as you use the right connection. The ones I use the most are Sony.
