Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch 8, 8-Port Managed PoE+ Gigabit Switch with SFP, 150W (ES-8-150W),White

I bought the Ubiquiti EdgeMax router a while back and was impressed. Had an old Cisco 2960 10/100 switch and some PoE injectors running the wired portion of my house. Got rid of 4 injectors and the old switch and replaced with this one unit. EASY setup and management! Saw my PoE devices and auto configured the power settings. Small footprint and VERY quiet. Great hardware and a decent feature set.

I like the simple use interface, where you must switch to the advanced interface for some things (this is by design and I think it's a good way of doing things). This is not designed for rack-mount (stacked in between any other devices) or for an enclosed space. Keep this in mind when purchasing. It's still a great device, though.

What an incredible little switch! I've been running one of the 24-port EdgeSwitch products for a few months now and I loved it. I needed a small PoE switch for a closet downstairs to run some IP Cameras which require PoE. My two main options were this or a Netgear ProSafe 8-port switch, also with 2 SFP ports. I decided to go with this switch, and I cannot complain at all! I had it up and operational within 5-8 minutes without any problem or hesitation! I've had it going for just shy of 4 weeks now without a single issue. It stays pretty cool, even with 5 ports PoE going! My only gripe about this is that the interface can slow down pretty significantly sometimes, but it frankly doesn't matter when the hardware itself doesn't. I cannot recommend this hardware enough!

Everything looked fine with the switch during testing, but when put under load of a tower, it would run and work for about an hour, then loose all VLAN settings and rename itself to ERROR-A12. Opened a ticket with Ubiquiti support and they say it is defective. I have another identical switch in another tower and it works fine. But this one is garbage.

Great switch, does all that i want, just take backups regularly as this is a real switch that allows you to do what you want but that's always the right thing !

These switches run hot enough they can burn you. Becareful almost where you mount these and do not let anything else touch them. Easy Vlan setup. High speed, remote access, highly programmable.

Solid managed switch for a home lab. Currently using it for a home VM lab with a number of standalone PC's. Works well with a lot of different SFP adapters too!
