Does this have impact on reducing sound as well? Am looking to put some around my ram air intake on my van as it is very loud

As a veteran acoustic engineer (worked in the automotive exhaust industry for 13 years), my professional opinion is this would have a negligible effect on induction roar on an air intake. Engine designers go to great lengths to eliminate induction noise as it is often the case that it is louder than the exhaust on some applications. Simply wrapping the air inlet will not have the desired effect you're probably looking for.
