Winsor & Newton Gouache Paint Set, 10 Count, 12ml (0.4-oz) Tubes

I am an artist and use gouache frequently. I had a friend who really likes my work and wants to learn gouache. I got her this as a starter kit and I opened it before giving it to her to ensure the quality. PROS: Though the tubes and package look different than the gouache I usually get by Winsor & Newton in the store, these live up tho the Winsor & Newton quality. They are easy to use, easy to modulate the water, easy to mix colors and they are color fast. CONS: The tubes are really, really small. It's a good starter kit, but my friend these won't last long. NOTES: Gouache is kind of like watercolor, but there are significant differences. One of the main ones you have to understand is unlike watercolor the more you dilute with water the less gouache will stick to the surface over time. Gouache has a different binder than watercolor and so watching videos and learning about the mastery of this medium is highly recommended. I have been a gouache artist for many years and love that you can have far more control and play more with layers and opacity. In addition Gouache is great for mixed media and can be used on the same piece as many other types of paint and dry materials such as charcoal, pencil, crayon, etc. Gouache is so worth the little learning curve. Just remember not to use it just like you would water color.

I do not have much experience with gouache, but I was impressed with this set from Winsor&Newton. Seems to be great quality and I am looking forward to gaining experience with this medium. I feel this was good value and good quality. Nice pigment of color. I have been using this along with their watercolor tube paints and have really enjoyed both products.

Winsor and Newton It's one of the best friends out there for paint These colors are beautiful but I was disappointed at some important basic colors like Payne's gray, yellow ochre pink or purple aren't included. These are good if you want some high quality gouache paints to mix with a cheaper brand that carries more colors. I wish there was a 20 tube pack for 40 but I am satisfied with the quality of these paints they look beautiful. This was my first Gouache painting using only these paints

Needed to purchase a quick into set of Gouache and was a little concerned that the quality wouldn't hold up to more expensive gouache. Happy to say this is still creamy and easy to work with, the pigments are still quite vibrant as well. The tubes of paint are small, as previous reviews have mentioned, but I knew that when purchasing it. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a intro set of gouache!

The name is well trusted but I expected a really good opacity from gouache. These are ok and a tad semi-transparent. If you want really opaque poster paint you might need to get the pricey one.

Nice paint. I ordeered one set and they sent three. I use Winsor Newton watercolors and they are a great paint. I have not used gouahe as much and bought them for Chinoserie paintings so cant really say how well they will perform just yet.

I am mostly a watercolor gal. But, this stuff is fun. So colorful and easy to use.

A great consistent gouche. I paint with it everyday. Lol. You can't go wrong with this brand and price
