Great sound, great price
Initial setup is straight forward...follow the on screen instructions and you'll be up and running in no time. Sounds quality is amazing! (Naturally, quality speakers are a must.) The first amp I've ever owned where the dialog enhancement actually works. Surround sound modes work really well, even when decoding OTA/streaming broadcasts. 4k pass-through is sharp and lag-free. Bluetooth pairing to your phone is easy and takes about 10 seconds. This is a quality amp for home theater use at a good price point.

Solid AVR at a Good Price
We bought a new 77" TV and wanted a nice AVR and the AVR-X1700H fits the bill. With 80 watts it is perfect for our mid sized living room. The AVR is easy to control, comes with a good setup program, and is attractive. It has plenty of HDMI inputs, though we primarily use it through our Apple TV though we also have a Blu-ray player hooked up to it as well. It drives our 5.1 system with clear audio and plenty of punch.

Excellent Value!
Replaced an older AV receiver in our "theatre" room with this Denon AV Receiver. I've been happy with the surround sound from the older receiver, but can't believe the difference the Denon makes. 1) If possible, I always run the AV source through the receiver first and then to the TV. The old receiver wasn't able to pass full 4k Dolby Vision to the TV, but the Denon can and what a difference it makes in the video quality! 2) I haven't taken advantage yet of the 7.2 capabilities. Still running just 5.0, but can't believe the difference in the surround sound. The sound from the Denon is emmersive, not just surround sound. Can't wait to get 2 more speakers and run 7.1. 3) The set up was super easy AND very helpful. I don't have left/right marked speaker wire (yeah, I should but I don't), but the Denon automated set up with Audyssey identified 3 speakers that were wired incorrectly. I switched the polarity on the 3 speakers and ran Audyssey again and what a difference! I wouldn't have known this had it not been for the Audyssey calibration. 4) Network set up was also a breeze. Once it was connected to the network I opened Spotify and there was the Denon in the speaker list. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Great product for the price, albeit with speaker connection considerations!
Love the features and Denon sound! I’ve had the unit for 3 months. It took about 30 hours of fun before I had it al down. With computer-like selection, these page to page internal maps gradually unleashed a killer sound and variety, with some disappointments (see later in review), but for the money this is a great sounding unit! I have a large bedroom-sized room for music and movies. Incredible upgrade from my previous setup. But BEWARE before you buy this model, that it’s a 7.2 output, including a second zone . The receiver can give you Dolby Atmos, Height and surround backs etc., and a second stereo zone, but you share ONE pair of speaker terminals on the x1700 for all of these extra features. (There are 2 subwoofer outs, but only for the main zone, so it’s really 7.2.) Another nice feature is an excellent phono pre-amp. One quirk. You can’t have a zone 2 set and Dolby Atmos at the same time without going to the back of the receiver and changing the wires. An internal speaker patch would be a great cure for this, but then you could just spend another $500 and get the x3000 9.2 series units with more headroom, too, although this is a punchy little monster through my Linn speakers and a KLH and JBL subs and JBL Studio Monitor 4311 sides. I have one sub behind the listening position so I can reach back and adjust 80-500hz at will. The price went up 10% a few months after I bought it, so beware if you’re on the fence.

Great Receiver!
This is my first Denon receiver after having owned many other brands in the past. I am very impressed with the quality setup and sound that I receive. While I know a 5.1 setup with ceiling mount speakers is not ideal, I am impressed with the sound and quality. The setup was detailed and straightforward, installation was easy.

Doesn't work
Wonderful device that can do anything it wants on paper. In reality, does almost nothing well. This is a shockingly bad product for the price. Expect a missing user guide, hours of troubleshooting, and a user interface straight out of the 90s. Bluetooth doesn't work. Headphones don't work. Kept forgetting wifi network. Settings menu sometimes works, but takes 2 minutes to load up while the receiver struggle to process the signal. This industry is ripe for disruption. Zero innovation in decades. Looking forward to returning this product and pivoting to a soundbar permanently.

A Great Surround Sound Receiver, eARC works as intended!
I bought this to replace a Marantz receiver after it wouldn't work with my new TV (ARC issues.) It took me a few weeks, but I was able to get this working perfectly with my setup. The only issue I had was that I had to use eARC. When I tried to hook up my firetv stick to this and then this to the TV, it would turn off the firestick, and when I turned it back on, the firestick would take a while to boot up so, it wouldn't find it. There really should be a per input option to turn the devices on/off over CeC. Soundwise, it's a little harsher than Marantz for music, the highs are too loud. But this makes surround sound better in movies. The auto setup microphone worked... okay. Except it set the center channel volume down too low. I'm using this with a TCL QM7k TV and Large 7.1 Polk speakers (Monitor II 50s, A center and a sub). Anyway, I got it working right by hooking everything through the TV, and letting that CeC everything. The only tricky part of the setup was that I had to tell the Firestick that the AVR was set to "TV output" when it wasn't. So yeah, it's hard to get it working with everything, but at least it's possible. Which is more than I can say for ANY other brand. The UI is ugly, but who cares?

A nice replacement for a previous receiver.
Easy setup, just walked through the step by step on screen instructions. No rush no timeouts, just took my time. Working great.

Excelente receiver.
