plastic is wrinkled. Is there any way to flatten the plastic so it's easier to look at?

I don’t think there’s any way to flatten it other than put pictures in it. I will tell you this… I had already ordered two other brands of these, and this one is by far the best. The others were very very difficult to get pictures in and they were even more wrinkled.

Do the sleeves fully cover a 4x6 photo, or does it leave an edge exposed? I don't want my toddler to easily remove the photos.

The photos slide in so they are completely covered by the plastic. I gave this to my granddaughter for Christmas, filled with pictures of our family. My daughter puts it in her bed after she falls asleep for my granddaughter to look through when she wakes up. It's great....no issues with her taking the pictures out.

Yes! When it comes to babies you can never be too safe. Just make sure you set it to gentle/delicate wash mode with cold water (Do not add any bleach).
