My Boomer mom is a very petite woman, and most ortho neck collars were too wide and too thick to comfortable support her neck after she suffered an injury to the discs in her cervical area. This ortho brace turned out to be the perfect thickness and width for a smaller stature woman, while providing the support and level of comfort she needed. The brace is soft to the skin, has no odor that Mom or I could tell, and was the perfect amount of support for her neck and head as she convalesced from collapsed discs in the neck. The brace has a Velcro closure so it is easy to put on and take off, and the Velcro doesn’t rub the skin. It is a great value for the price. It provided enough support for Mom’s comfort without being so rigid she felt retrained by the brace, so it worked as we hoped. Mom was happy with this purchase, so I am happy!

After using this cervical collar for 7 days, it loosened up and is now quite satisfactory. Order it, but give it a few days to adjust.

The first collar I bought was a disaster. Too tall, way too long. This collar isn't a perfect fit, but it is the closest to my measurements that I could find. And it works well enough. I don't really need my chin to rest on the collar and I definitely didn't want it gouging into my chin. I needed something to remind me not to move more than absolutely necessary, because moving hurt, a lot. If I don't move my neck, it doesn't hurt. So this collar does what I need it to, until my surgery just over 2 weeks from now. This collar washes well in my top load machine on cold, but I hang it to dry overnight, which it does. I wash it in one of those zip close laundry bags for delicate items, probably more to protect other items from the Velcro than anything else. In case it helps someone else in fitting, my neck is 14 " around and if I wrap it snugly, I have a 1.5 to 2" overlap depending on how snug I make it. The 2" height is good for me with my short neck, but I wasn't looking for something to lift my chin just rest it on. I guess it really depends on what you are looking for. Hope this is helpful.

I wish they had a firmer version of this size. 2 inch thickness is perfect for me. But it does not provide support.

I have a herniated disc in my neck, and sleeping in the wrong position can bother me more than anything. I've used a variety of soft collars over the years to keep my neck from wandering into a problematic position while sleeping, and this is one of the better ones that I have tried. 3 inches is about the optimal height for me, and it contours just right around my throat. So far I've washed it once (put it in a linen bag and threw it in the washer then hung to dry) and worn it a week, and there hasn't been any give or deformation yet. Stays cool at night, or at least as cool as you could expect with a sheet of foam wrapped around your neck.
