Another tool I didn't want to own, LOL.
As the headline says, I did not want to own a chainsaw. I've managed to get by without one for a few decades. But..... I need to rip out a bunch of overgrown evergreens around my pool area including a 30 foot tall blue spruce. And a huge block of mugo pines that have blocked my vision at the end of my driveway. And then there's a decent sized oak on the woodline at the rear of my property. It's rotten and leaning toward my garden shed. Better it comes down in a controlled fashion than a storm. I haven't bothered getting quotes. I know it would be a couple thousand dollars in my area. OK, I give up. I bought this EGO chainsaw. It's a last generation CS1600 and Bomb Brands had a new one in a damaged box for $179. Let's see, $179 vs $2,000. Chainsaw wins. This 1600 has slightly less power than the new CS1610, about 14% less. That's meaningless to me. They've changed the controls around but it's basically the same "no tool" chain and bar adjustment. So once again, I don't care. The CS1610 has a red line added to the kickback blade stop. I did the same thing with some red nail polish borrowed from a female friend. So, don't care again. The only really new feature on the CS1610 is bucking teeth so you can dig into a log for leverage when cutting. But once again, I'll use this thing so seldom that I don't really care. I just need a bare bones tool for occasional use. Other than that, it has automatic chain oiling, it's light, quiet, and it uses the batteries I already own. Replacement bars and chains are readily available and cheap. It is so much easier to use than a gas powered saw. The only consumable is the chain and bar oil. This thing will pay for itself 10 times over with these first few little jobs I have planned for it. Edit one day later: So I dropped the blue spruce (12" trunk) limbed it and cut it up. Removed 2 huge mugho pines at the end of my driveway, and cleaned up a stump from a 30 foot tall arborvitae I cut down a few years ago. The saw worked great. It made the work fast and easy. The spruce pretty much drained a 5 AH battery. The mugho pines and arborvitae stump didn't even put a dent in my 7.5 AH battery. I'm happy with the saw. Much cheaper than the $2,000 a professional would have cost, LOL. EDIT 8/23/24: We got once in 1,000 year rains a week ago. I had one huge oak come down in the woods at the back of my property line. About 50 feet tall and 16" diameter trunk. The woods are pretty dense / packed in there. So when that big oak came down it did a lot of damage to other trees. I ended up taking down 5 trees total because they were either damaged and/or leaning towards my garden shed or out over the yard. The Oak was the largest but they were all 12-16" in diameter. I figured it was better to take them down in a controlled fashion rather than risk injury to people and property if they come down in another random weather event. This chainsaw did a great job of making short work of the trees. But..... the EGO OEM chain sucked. It was basically toast halfway through my initial project with this chainsaw and was burning its way through the wood. After that I ordered a 3 pack of new chains off Amazon from JUMUZHE, $25 for 3 new chains. I had no idea what to expect but the new chain was amazing. Much better than the OEM chain from EGO. It went through 5 good sized hardwood trees like they were butter and is still cutting well at the end of the job. This chainsaw will do everything I'll ever need a chainsaw to do. But do yourself a favor and get a few replacement chains from a decent brand and have them on the shelf ready to go. The chains do take a beating.

Affordable Chainsaw That Meets All My Expectations
After the latest storm brought down two small trees in my yard, I decided it was time to purchase a chainsaw. I decided on the Ego after seeing several positive reviews of it on YouTube. Another factor that influenced my decision was that I already own an EGO string trimmer and I have found it to be well made and works very well. Already having the trimmer, I could use the battery and charger for it with the chainsaw as well, saving a good amount of money. The chainsaw required very little setup - it was already put together when it arrived, all I had to do was add chain oil and it was ready to go. After using the chainsaw several times now I was surprised at first at how quiet it is - very little noise, and it is very powerful, It cut through the thickest part of the tree, about 10 inches in diameter in just a matter of seconds. Battery life is good, the picture shown of what I cut up used less than half the battery, and it only takes about 45 minutes to charge back up. To sum up, this chainsaw has met all my expectations as a first-time owner, and I highly recommend it.

Fabulous Rechargeable Chainsaw For Residential Use - Efficient And Works Great!
We have several Ego products, and recently purchased this 14-inch Ego Rechargeable Chainsaw to replace a very old gas powered chainsaw. So very pleased with the purchase, another Ego product that did not disappoint! The 14-inch length is perfect for residential use. The chainsaw is easy to carry, maneuver, and use. Charges quickly with long battery life. Shares the same battery with all other Ego products, so handy to not have to mess with a wide array of different batteries! The chainsaw if powerful, too. My husband Jim made quick work of both cutting down a nasty large palm bush - see photo of the stump - and cutting up a wooden pallet and an wooden wall tent support pole. The Ego brand is more expensive than other rechargeable brands, but considering the durable construction, easy to use and long lasting products, and the ease of same battery for all Ego products, the extra expense is definitely worth it. I highly recommend this product.

This Unit performs better than a petrol machine and makes chain sawing hassle free.

Have used and surprised how good it works. BUT i have the hedger and the safety bar and switch BOTH failed and went back to Australian Importer and nothing was fixed and happened again. Then after issues eventually had replaced. I would personally not allow my wife or kids to use the brand and unsure if this is common or dangerous. Might have been a one off, but the faulty cutoff switch and faulty trigger should have been replaced when returned.

My son and I bought this together for clean up around our properties - especially a wooded island cabin and we are very pleased with how well it works. We have bucked up deadfall, cleared large logs that have washed up on our beach and cleared a lot of scrub. The battery lasts very well, and although we don’t have much experience with chain saws and take all the safety precautions, this one feels very safe and is easy to use.

Used this saw to clear a fallen pine on our property. I have owned a corded electric saw and a Stihl gas powered saw. This saw cut through the trunk faster than either. But most importantly it was such a joy to cut and stop without worrying about stalling or having to kick-start the Stihl saw. It was very light without the battery, but once you attach that it's just as heavy, if not more, than our gas powered saw. But its well balanced and cuts quickly. I did the entire 30' trunk, cut into 12 in pieces, plus removing branches, on one charge. Cleaning was easy.
