Perfect for little nighttime accidents
My dog is 5 and is trained to not go in the house, although sometimes if she’s feeling spiteful about being left home alone for a few hours or in the middle of the night she’ll go downstairs and pee on the carpet. This solved that problem! It’s easy to clean, I just take it and hose it outside and let it dry - dawn dish soap too to help clean. The only thing I’d warn about is the smell!

It works But......
Recently I had a small dog that my partner and I adopted from a local animal shelter and unfortunatly passed from complications from a terminal illness we were made aware of at the time of the adoption.... HOWEVER this is not the review. We ordered this training pad because our dog with the medications she was on made her urinate frequently and had dificult times being able to "hold it" long enough till either one of us got home to let her out to go releive herself. As a result, she would urinate on the floor in my house. Fortunately it was a tiled floor and the mess was easy to at least clean up. Well to help with the issue in hand, I decided to get this training pad to at least give her a spot for her to releive herself. She took to it very quickly and she was no longer wetting the floor. Now the review. This training pad comes in various sizes so make sure that you order the correct size for your dog. The washable pad seems pretty sturdy and is easy to wash. Place it into the washing machine and run it through a regular cycle and comes out clean. The plastic tray and the lift tray are easy to clean and sanitize after the pet has used it to releive themselves. HOWEVER this is not something you can take to the kitchen sink and wash it because of its size. I found that I had to take it to my bathtub where I was able to properly wash it or take it outside and use my garden hose to clean it. The grass pad is your typical astroturf that you can buy at your local big box home improvement store but with the capabilities of liquids passing through it. I found that the quality of this grass pad was ok and within a month of use and cleaning, it was freying on the edgees. I simply trimmed off the loose ends and was good to go. This would only work for a few times on keeping it neet lookin before it became tattered enough to have to replace. The recap. This is a great pad to use to aid in training your pet to "go" when it is time to take your pet outside to releive itself. One has to be patient because that training process does take time to housebreak your pet. ESPECIALLY if your pet is newborn or a few weeks old. The quality of the grass pad could be better, and being that the main structure is plastic and coming with a reusable, washable wet pad, it is for the most part easy to keep clean and maintain to allow you to keep the "accidents" contained vs. cleaning up after your pet's oppses. Would I recomend to a friend, the answer is yes.

Would have been better if my dog would use it.

Do not buy this junk if you value your puppies!
This is the worst product I think I have ever purchased from Amazon. The tray, pad, and liner are a good idea and eventually your dog will get the clue. My issue is with the fake grass layer, which is completely unsuitable for its intended purpose and could possibly harm small puppies. I have two small puppies who like to chew - we’ve had this tray in their playpen for only 3 days. Of course they tug and play with everything and the grass started fraying. I trimmed the loose strings along the edges and checked it multiple times a day to be sure there weren’t any long pieces they could pull off and swallow. Then I started noticing very fine white granules scattered all over the place - this turned out to be plastic bits from the backing of the grass. Even without fraying at all, the white part of the backing basically disintegrates and sheds thousands and thousands of these small plastic granules. This definitely can’t be healthy for puppies to ingest or inhale, and it’s a really terrible and inconvenient mess to clean up. It got even worse after I washed only once - with fake grass blades, white particles, and thick black and white strings everywhere. It took me much longer to clean up than it’s worth. I would stick to pee pads and forget the plastic grass entirely.

This is a Lifesaver
I have a new puppy (a Cavachon) and I’ve finally trained him to go potty in this. Now that he’s trained to do that, I’m hoping I can get him to go outside. But those pee pad, which I was using at first to try to get him to go potty on, did not work. It did not click with him. But my son’s fiancé had a dog and she had one of these. I got it out and put it in a place where he was not suppose to poop but did. And right then and there, he got on this and went potty. Like instinctively. Once I noticed that, I bought another one. This one. And it’s been great. Such a relief for me. My first dog and this is hard trying to train a dog where to go. I hope he’ll get the idea when it’s time to do it outside. He’s considered a toy dog and won’t get too big so I don’t mind him doing some of his business indoors. But I want him to know and ask to go outside eventually. BTW, I still use the pee pads to soak up the pee in my old one. It’s time to upgrade the old one for this one. So, I’ll keep two on hand.

Cheap grass cut from a roll. Not good for puppies
Not very impressed. I bought this to help with a puppy. The tray is nice but the grass pad is junk. It’s clearly just been cut off a larger roll. The ends are frayed and the grass is shedding pretty heavy. The puppy is nipping and the rough frays and making it worse. This is NOT a custom made grass pad. It’s just cut off a larger roll. Not recommended for puppies, maybe ok for older fully trained dogs.

Love this!
I like this product. It gives my dog a choice when the weather is horrible and she can’t go outside. I trained her on this as a puppy and still keep it for her when she has to go potty and I am not here to take her outside. I hear people complaining that it stinks and they can’t get rid of the smell. Well….that’s bc YOU need to do some work to keep it clean! I keep 4 extra pads and change the pad DAILY. I rinse out the dirty pad every night in the tub and spray with bleach, let it sit for about 10 minutes and then rinse again thoroughly in hot water and then hang it on an extension rod that I keep in the tub. Mine have never smelled bad so I’m guessing that the ones complaining are just expecting their dog to clean it everyday. (Eyeroll) I’m so glad that I found this product when she was just a puppy. It comes in handy and it’s great to have her indoor and outdoor trained. EDIT: If you don’t want to rinse the black tray out every single night you can put a puppy pad under the fake grass and just change that out when you replace the clean grass. Some may ask …why not just use puppy pads and skip the grass? Well, bc using the grass teaches them to also go outside. If you only use pads then they will think that THAT is the only place they can go so they won’t go outside, they will wait to come in and go which messes up outside training. And also, you can change out the dirty grass for new grass before you wash the dirty one so if your dog has to go while you are washing it out then there is no wait time which means no accidents on your floor. If you choose to not use pads then make sure you rinse the base everyday also bc all the pee goes under that first layer of the tray (tray has 2 pieces) the pee goes under the top piece- so I’m assuming the people who said it smells bad are not looking under that top piece or rinsing that tray.
