Before buying this product ask yourself what is your use case... Work? Traveling? A friend? A gift? Depending on what your looking for I suggest reading my experience just to gain a better understanding of what your getting. I personally use this for my work. I sell phones at a boost mobile, and about 60% of our customer base is latino. I bought this in hopes of making communication easier when translation is not available. I needed to be able to have a meaningful back and forth conversation while being transparent as well as establishing a connection with different customers. I needed something that would be as close to a natural conversation as possible. Did it meet everything I needed? Let's go through the main points. -Sound quality is decent. It's not the best but not the worst. It really doesn't need to be anything special, it's just talking. As far as what you hear, the voices aren't terrible, they sound decent and don't make you annoyed just by hearing them. There's a beta AI feature that I like that conveys more emotion in the speaking while online. -Battery life is completely respectable. It lasts a week while in use the days I'm working (4-6 days a week) or about 30-40 hours worth of shifts. I take the earbuds out of the case when people walk in, as I encounter a lot more than just spanish. I only use them about a 1/3rd of the time so maybe 11 hours of actual use ish a week. With the charging case though this is no issue. I'm not sure I could imagine someone being able to kill the battery from full very quickly. Earbuds can stay out of the case for a while too. -Accuracy to be completely blunt is about 85% of the time correct. It's I'd say about 30-35% more effective than google translate. While sure 85% doesn't sound like it justifies the price, I think it really does. Because when it gets things wrong it may be a small word or a missing/random word, I'd say you get the picture about 95-100% of the time. It makes your intentions clear even if your words were slightly incorrect. It blew my mind and made me able to sell phones to people in different languages. It's already paid back itself honestly so I can't complain at all. -Speed of translation is varying, when you are on online mode speed of translation is zippy as heck! Online mode is slightly more delayed but more accurate. Also if you order ONLY get the offline ones. You get free credits in the app and can download 2-3 languages. It saves you money unless you want more languages. So overall if you're a consumer looking for something cool, make sure you have a decent use scenario or else you may have it sitting around for a while. Otherwise if you like the concept, check out the Timekettle ZERO. It's much more affordable but no earbuds. If you want to use it for work and have a definite use case for them. GET THEM. Try them for a couple weeks and if you don't like it return them. But for me it changed my work, if you see yourself talking to a lot of people and want to establish greater connections, give them a shot. You won't regret it even if it isn't 100% accurate 100% if the time. It gets the job done and is very personable. If you've already decided you want it, get the ZERO too! It usually comes at a super discounted or free price when you get the earbuds. Then you can have a different range of conversations as multiple people can get involved.

These earbuds are a brilliant idea, but not ready to be sold to the consumer. They still require much more alterations to correct their discrepancies. I purchased two sets of these earbuds in early September 2023. I found the volume of the first set to be very low. With the volume adjusted to its maximum level, it was still very low. Another problem I encountered was that they were translating our words and phrases into other words and phrases that were not even close to what we were saying. I contacted Timekettle on a Friday and questioned them on this. I told them I was leaving for Thailand the following Wednesday and purchased these earbuds for that trip. They told me they would look into an expedited replacement for me. They also told me that they are closed on weekends, so it wouldn’t be until Monday before I heard anything about it. It is now October 5 and I have yet to hear from them on this. Be it that I was running out of time, I purchased a second set. Unfortunately, the second set was no better. It was performing exactly the same way as the first set. I wanted these earbuds to work for me and gave them every opportunity to do so, but they failed me in every situation. They failed me in a quiet and also a not so quite restaurant. They failed me while outdoors, and they even failed me in a quiet hotel room. They would commonly translate only a portion of what was said. The biggest problem of all, as mentioned previously is that they would translate words and phrases that were so greatly different from what was said that it was comical. It is good for us that google translate was available. We found ourselves resorting to that every time. We eventually gave up on the earbuds. Additionally, the storage case can be very difficult to open. I struggled with it many times. The buds do not fit well into the ear. I found myself constantly moving them to get as much clarity and volume from them as I could. They move within the ear while in use and require a lot of readjusting. I often found myself cupping my ear with my hand to help me hear what was being said. Be it that I returned the second set as well, I would not recommend purchasing this item. I hope Timekettle can eventually correct these discrepancies, because if they can perfect this item, it would be such an amazing tool for translating conversations.

The WT2 Edge, being such a new item, I’ve only had a couple of days to use it and become acquainted with it. This is my experience with it so far. First of all, the packaging is beautiful. If you’re familiar with Apple products and their packaging, this rivals it. The set-up was easy. Once I downloaded the timekettle app, it was very intuitive as to how it all got set up. I wanted to be able to use the earbuds offline as well, so I was able to download the Chinese to English offline package. The actual way of doing it was different from what was written in the operating manual, but I was able to figure that out fairly quickly. I love the new sleek look of both the container that the earbuds come in, and the earbuds themselves. The earbuds are smaller than the WT2 earbuds, and fit into the ear perfectly. I felt like I needed to wear the ear adaptor with the WT2 earbuds, but with these, they feel like they stay in the ear with no worries of them falling out. Very comfortable. You hardly notice they’re there. I’ve only used the translation in the simul mode. And it works great!!! Previously, trying to communicate with a Chinese friend of mine, we’ve had to write out messages to each other letter by letter on a phone device. It was so laborious trying to have a conversation with each other. Having these earbuds feels like we’re talking in real time. There obviously is a slight second or two delay when translating, but compared to waiting for a written response, it feels like warp speed. I really feel like I’m having a natural conversation in real time with a person whose language I don’t understand at all, but with these earbuds, that is no longer a problem. We both understand each other perfectly. There were a couple of times when we spoke and no translation happened. Once we spoke up louder, the problem was solved. What a great invention! Looking forward to the next opportunity to have another conversation with it.

This device has an earbud defect that I have experienced with five (5) wt2 devices. The earbud volume becomes quiet for no reason at all. None of the settings in the app or the cell phone can correct this issue. It has worked great for 3 months and then the volume level dies. So it is similar to renting this device for $100 a month because you have buy a new one that will last 3 months. It is the best device to use for all of your translating needs. So I have to keep buying this item due to my needs. The functionality is the best, but the longevity of use is short. I want to give it 5 stars on one hand and 1 star on the other hand. They did replace mine at one time but I am tied of asking for replacements. if you want the best for special encounters and meetings for a 3 or 4 month period, then buy it. Because it is simply the best technology. If you are budget hawk on repeat purchases, then I am sure you will pass this gem up. For me, my business and personal interactions offset the multiple purchases required. Nothing is perfect in this world. Leveraging imperfect things for your ultimate benefit is sometimes the best approach. "It is the price of success and happiness". Remember, the translation and transcribing is superior to other brands I have tried. It does give great service until it dies in 3 or 4 months.

I got these translator earbuds to help with a business meeting (Chinese <-> English). I got 2 pairs so 4 of us could use them. These are the good parts: 1. Connection was easy to do. Got the app and click on the “connect” button in the app (don’t connect them via the phone’s Bluetooth menu). They connected easily and quickly. 2. Battery life was very good. We used them in an all-day meeting of 6 hours. We took a lunch break halfway (3 hours) and left them recharging, but they didn’t die before, so they did a solid 3 hours without a hiccup. 3. They are comfortable to wear; they sit well in the ear and don’t fall out. 4. Translation had good accuracy. I would say 85% accurate, enough to have a fluent conversation. 5. It doesn’t translate the second you start speaking; it takes 3 to 5 seconds to start translating. This is actually good as grammar construction between the two languages is so different that it needs to understand the sentence before it can translate it correctly. 6. We tried Chinese <-> Spanish (I speak Spanish), and it worked as well as Chinese <-> English. 7. The earbuds can be configured individually for 2 languages you can select how many of each (e.g. 1 English 3 Chinese, 2 English 2 Chinese, 3 English 1 Chinese), it seems you can connect up to 3 pairs so a total of 6 people. 8. The conversations get transcript recorded so you can review them later or create a summary of the conversation. This was very useful for my meeting. You can export them to the clipboard or email them, which is super helpful. 9. If you speak clearly, at a somewhat constant rate, and enunciate your words, it captures 95% accurately what you are saying. The not-so-good parts: 1. They don’t work well in noisy environments (we initially tried them at the airport). It was not picking up my voice consistently. 2. The “touch mode,” where you touch the earbud to start speaking, has only 1 beep sound. If you touch it again, you close the microphone. So if you touch it twice, it opens and closes the microphone using the same beep sound. Sometimes we tried talking, and it was not listening to our voice, so we had to touch it again, trying to guess if the microphone was open or closed. If the vendor could update this so it does a 2-tone beep (bup-bip / bip-bup) or a single bip to open/two-bips to close, to distinguish between open/close microphone, it would solve this issue completely. This was definitely a point of frustration during the meeting occasionally. 3. Accents will have an impact. The Chinese gentlemen were from two different regions. For one of them, the microphone would capture 90% of the message accurately; for the other one, it would go down to 60%/70%, so it was a little harder to understand what he was trying to say. But even with that, it was good enough to understand what we were talking about. I didn’t try the offline translation that some people reported as not working. I will try that later and update my review then. Bottom line, these are good solid translation earbuds, will definitely be keeping them and using them with my international coworkers. It's amazing what technology is now capable off, kudos to the Timekettle team.

This is for the W2 EDGE W3 by Kettle. I was impressed by the claim that it had TWO WAY SIMULTANEOUS translation capability along with other selectable modes 1) SIMUL MODE 2) LISTENING MODE AND 3) SPEAKER MODE... HERE IS THE SCOOP... I TRIED IT WITHOUT WIFI IT IS A SELECTABLE OPTION CALLED "OFFLINE TRANSLATION" YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A LANGUAGE AND IT ALSO COSTS MONEY... IT COST $10 TO DOWNLOAD SPANISH.. IT SUPPOSEDLY CAME WITH ALL OF THE CHOICES OF DIALECTS...............BUT THE DOWNLOAD DID NOT WORK WHEN I SLECTED OFFLINE TRANSLATION... I DO NOT KNOW WHY.. I DOWNLOADED IT.... AND IT THE OFFLINE DOWNLOADED TRANSLATION DID NOT WORK IN ALL 3 MODES... SO IF YOU ARE STUCK WITHOUT WIFI... DONT EXPECT THIS THING TO WORK....NOW WHAT ABOUT WHEN YOU DO USE WIFI... WELL ,,, i FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT THAT ACCURATE AND i HAD TRIED IT BOTH BY SPEAKING ENGLISH AND BY SPEAKING SPANISH INTO IT ( ACTUALLY INTO THE EARPIECE WHICH PICCS UP YOUR VOICE AS IT SITS IN YOUR EAR.... IT MIGHT SPEW OUT SOMETHING RELATED TO WHAT YOU SAID OR MAYBE NOT EVEN RELATED TO IT.. FOR SOME WORDS IT TOOK MANY TRIES FOR IT TO TRANSLATE WHAT i WAS SAYING ( WHICH WAS MAYBE A 2 WORD PHRASE... IF YOU ASK ME GOOGLE TRANSLATE WORKS JUST AS GOOD FOR NEXT TO NOTHING COST WISE.... WITH THIS UNIT i HAD TO PUT $300 OOUT THIER ON THE LIMB AND HOPE THAT IT MEET MY BASIC EXPECTATIONS... HOWVER IT DID NOT... BY THE END OF THE DAY i WENT BACK TO USING GOOGLE TRANSLATE AND I WISH THAT THEY WOULD GIVEN SOME KIND OF HEADPHONE OUT OR ADAPTER BOX THAT HOOKS UP TO THE PHONE SO TAHT WHATEVER IS BEING SPOKEN BACK THROUGH THE EAR PEIECS CAN BE AMPLIFIED BUT IT DOESN'T MAYBE THE X1 HAS SOMEHING LIKE THAT

This is my first experience with an in-ear translator and the experience has been positive so far. I have used it to converse with coworkers from Mexico, Russia, France (oh yeah, really necessary!) and India. This gizmo can even recognize the lovely Indian accent and speak back to you in that accent! To use the simultaneous translation mode — of course, even a UN top translator cannot do pure simultaneous translation due to language semantic and grammatical differences not to mention the difficulties with idioms — you give one of the earbuds to the other party and wear the other one yourself. Your iPhone is not needed for picking up the speech but acts as the neural brain for the translation work. This may also explain why they decided not to include regular earphone functions as, alas, one of your buds will probably spend more time in other people’s ears, and not everyone cleans their ears regularly like you do. This mode is my favorite, but you need to be patient with the slight delays in translation; the speed seems to spend mostly on the speed of your Internet connection. I haven’t tried the offline mode yet even though I bought that version. The listening mode is good for watching foreign movies. It uses your iPhone’s mic to pick up the sound and then extract speech and translate. Depending on the audio quality of your TV or amplifier, the results can be inconsistent, but it works most of the time for me (I play videos mostly on my 16 inch MacBook Pro with its awesome speakers). It’s lots of fun. A mode called touch mode works like a pair of walkie talkies: you give one bud to the other person, then each of you taps the bud (like on the original AirPod) before speaking. You don’t hold the bud’s side when you speak, just tap and speak. This mode is great when you are in a noisy environment so the system knows when and who’s talking. There’s one speaker mode where you wear the bud(s) while the other person uses your iPhone running the TimeKettle app. This saves you from sharing your bud with someone who doesn’t wash often… As long as you have a strong Internet connection or have downloaded the offline content, and have a little patience, this gizmo works pretty well. It even works in noisy restaurants and bars for me. And yes, I set my end to Indian English. That alone is worth the price!

Absolute garbage. I bought these for a 6 week trip to Argentina to translate from Spanish to English and they were completely useless. They only picked up about 20% of conversations, and they got 85% of those translations wrong. My wife (who speaks fluent Spanish) was laughing at how junky these trash earbuds were. Don't waste your money!!!
