Q: Can the oval set up be less than 33 inches wide? I have 29 inches

I would say yes. You could omit a piece of straight track on each side to shorten the length. It can be set up as a circle as well.

Q: Does it play Christmas music

It is great. It is truly a Christmas train. My grand son loved it. I enjoyed it myself.

Q: is it the smoke odorous?

it is odorless,it use pure water to make steam,and the steam is obvious,maybe it can be used as "facial humidifier" lol
