How does one set the date/time/year ? The instructions are too difficult to follow and does not produce expected results.

Here's a bit of an orientation. Put your watch down on the table. Note there are four buttons; "A" at 8 O'Clock is for selecting the mode or sub-mode. "B" at 10:00 is the indiglo light; we won't need it. "C" at 2:00 is the change value button. "D" at 4:00 is the "set"/"accept settings" button. There are two digital times you can set on this watch; the regular time and the second timezone (labelled T2). Hit the "Mode" button (A) until time OR date you want to change is displayed (the watch can be set to display either the digital time OR the date). Now press and hold the set/accept button (D); you'll see the word "Hold" appear. Hold the button down until the world "Hold" disappears. You are now setting the time and everything you do will be interpreted that way until you hit the set/accept button again to save your input.Notice that the seconds value in the time is flashing. IF you want to change the seconds, hit the "change value" button (C) to set them to zero. You can use this to synchronize the digital time on the watch *exactly* to another clock with a second hand.Hit the mode button (A) and the hour will start flashing. Press the change value button (C) until the correct hour appears. Repeat this sequence (hit the mode button, hit the change value button until the value is right) until you come back around to flashing seconds. Hit the "set" button (D) to accept all the values you just selected.Your watch is now set. Here's a bonus set of instructions. It's kind of useless to display the digital time if its the same as the analog hands, but you can set the display to show the date and day instead. Here's how you do it. Hit the mode button until the current time appears. Press the "change value" (C) button briefly. Note that the watch beeps, then then shows the day and date for a few seconds, then returns to the time. Now press and HOLD the change value button. After a few seconds displaying the day and date it will beep and you can release it. The watch will now show the day and date instead of the digital time. Whatver your watch is showing (day/date or time), a brief press of "C" will show the other. You can use this to check that the digital time is correct (e.g. after daylight savings time kicks in) so the correct date will show before and after midnight.

does it have Luminous light in the dark without using battery light?

The hands glow if they get enough light. There is a light,but it only illuminates the face and not the digital readout. It's been fine for the times I've needed to see what time it was in the dark.

Can the digital display be set for military time?

It's hard to see but just outside the 1 -12 is the military time. 1 is 13 , 6is 18. I believe when you set up the digital side you can set it for military. Hope this was helpful .

A PLASTIC TIMEX WITH AN UNCOMFORTABLE STRAP !

I ordered this watch in India and it cost me 9750 INR. Absolutely not worth the money for this Timex . Please beware that it does not come with an instruction manual, so you will have to fiddle around to set the time, date, and alarm, so forget setting the other chrono functions.

This is the nicest looking watch Timex has done in a long time. I have worn their Expedition watches before, usually my watch of choice for deployments, because they are basically indestructible. And if they do get scuffed or beat up, they do not cost a fortune to replace. I like the features of this particular watch. The rotating bezel is a major plus. The crystal is slightly recessed behind the bezel to protect it from scratches. And the watch is waterproof. The visibility of the dial and hands is excellent both in daylight and using the awesome Indeglow feature. The nylon fabric watchband is double layer of contrasting color and looks good. The band is stiff for a fabric band, but is surprisingly comfortable and smooth feeling on the arm. I found myself forgetting to take it off at night. I like the analog/digital combo. The digital area defaults to time. It is small and does not light up with the Indeglow. A single button press brings up the date, which is a plus. There are too many features to the tiny digital area: timers, lap, time zones, alarm, etc. With only 3 buttons to seek and set everything, it can be fiddly. Overall, this is one tough watch that is more than it has a right to be. Great value for the money at this low price point.

Watch is good for the price. It feels light and a bit plastic but appears to be solid/well built. The strap I quite stiff but after a bit of use it fits well. The idiglo light works/looks great but the instructions are definitely sub-par. Most of the basics aren't covered in them and neither are nifty things to know like hold the light button for 3 seconds to change what the light button does when pressed... overall happy with the look of the watch and the quality.
