easy install, secure, opinion, laser, point of aim, point of impact.
I mounted this on my 1911 for home defense. Installation is pretty straightforward and not difficult. It mounts securely to the trigger guard and fits snugly against the bottom of the frame. I took it to the range and after firing a hundred rounds, the light remains securely fixed on my gun. The ambedextrous on/off switch is perfectly positioned so the index finger of my weak hand rests on it. The light itself is bright but not crazy bright. The light has 3 settings: light on, laser on, light and laser on. You select one of these settings, by squeezing both left and right side on/off switches simultaneously. Again, after shooting at the range, I'm opting for light on without the laser. This is my first experience with a mounted laser sight. I know some will say "But wait, what's the point of having the laser if you aren't going to use it?" Here's the reason: You need to zero the laser in at a certain distance. You decide what that distance should be. 10 feet? 20 feet? You might decide 10 yards, depending on your situation. Once you adjust your laser so that point of laser is point of impact, your gun is set for that distance. Now, if a perpetrator in my house requires neutralizing (nice choice of words, I agree), I can put the laser on him and the round will impact at that point, provided my perpetrator is standing exactly x distance away from me, x being the distance I used to zero my laser. If he is closer, the round will impact high. If he's much closer, you could easily miss altogether. The opposite is true if he is farther than x distance away. The round will impact lower than point of laser. I had understood this to be true prior to firing with the laser on the range. But I was surprised at how much difference a few feet made one way or the other. I'm sure there are a lot of opinions on this, but that's mine. Decide for yourself and good luck if you ever need to use this, really solid, well made light.

Finally a Light/Laser for My Colt 1911
It is about time somebody out there made this product. We 1911 owners who own handguns with no rail to mount these accessories to have been waiting for this light/laser for a long time.. It is quite an ingenious solution to our railess handguns. The installation was fairly straightforward. It's a good thing because there were no installation instructions included with my TLR-6. They included a booklet explaining how to separate the unit in two and how to install the supplied batteries after it is on the pistol. You see this is how it attaches to the pistol. It wraps around the trigger guard and three screws hold it together and firmly on the gun. They also explain how to zero in the laser (windage & elevation) with the supplied tiny allen wrench. But nothing on getting the two pieces assembled around the trigger guard. I found this to be tricky. I had to fiddle with it for a awhile then when I held my mouth just right and held my breath in fear of breaking it, I got the sucker on the pistol. There are probably installation instructions on YouTube but I wanted to figure it out for myself. Kinda like a puzzle and it wasn't gonna beat me. And it didn't. To be fair there was only on way it would fit but getting it there was the problem. Once installed it is very tight and secure to the pistol. I detected no play in it at all. The light is surprisingly bright and is more than adequate for nighttime illumination defending one's home. The light will work with or without the laser and visa versa. Everything forward is simple and easy to figure out. It does use some funky batteries and I bet they aren't cheap. Thank goodness you can replace the batteries by way of a small trap door on the underside of the unit without taking the thing off of the pistol. I'll repeat: this is a good design. I haven't tried it with live ammo so I hope it holds it's zero and it stays tight to the pistol. It does come with a lifetime warranty so that's a good thing. Just don't forget to register your TLR-6 to get it.

So good I ordered a second one
I bought a TLR-6 for a micro carry and it was so nice I bought a 2nd for a 1911, both without rails.. The laser (and Light) are very bright, even in bright daylight, which is why I bought it. They are both very accurate, easy to attach, easy to adjust and blend into the pistols very nicely. The Streamlight way of attaching them to the trigger guard is very sturdy and holds the laser rock solid. The power switch lies right under my index finger just outside of the trigger guard. I fired about 20 rounds of .45 and more than that through the micro and the POA did not change. I like that you can change the batteries without moving the laser, so you don't have to resight when you change them. I only wish that they made it in green laser, but the red works great. Of the three brands of laser sight that I use, I like these the best. Recommended.

Easy to use and install. May even fit some other Browning-based automatics not strictly related to the 1911. For example, I managed to fit mine on a Tokarev TT-33 without issues.

First one had a mount issue so I returned it. I then called Streamlight and they gave me a bit of advice so I bought two more and they installed without issue and are working perfectly. The 100 lumen lamp is not too bright so it doesn’t destroy your night vision and the laser while not optimal in bright sun is marvellous in low light and in darkened environments. The only downside is that it is not a quick remove product, but that doesn’t bother me because mine stay one permanently.

This Laser/Light fits my 1911 Airsoft Pistol like a glove . Because it is a blowback gun I had to add some double sided tape to stop it from moving because of blowback kick from gun .
