Davy Spillane
Davy Spillane and his uillean pipes are always good. I have quite a few of his CD's and they're all good. First heard him on Riverdance, his pipes made me feel like the earth was crying.

Place Among The Stones
Excellent blend of modern music and traditional Irish music. Uillean Pipes are hauntingly beautiful and Spillane is an master at his trade.

Spillane at his best
This album would probably be classed as 'Fusion' but I think it is wrong to pidgeon-hole music so I will just say 'A place Among the Stones' brings traditional Irish music into the 21st Century. It ranges from the haunting Irish ballad Starry Night played beautifully on the pipes by Davy and sung brilliantly by Sean Tyrrell, to a modern song sung by Steve Winwood with his distinctive vocals accompanied by Davy on pipes and low whistles. Once you've heard this album you'll be hooked!

Spillane gets the groove on
This is a great album! Spillane mixes some traditional Celtic tunes with new jazzy, new age sounds. He does a lot of remixing, with him playing the low whistle and uileean pipes at the same time. This is kind of quirky, but sounds great. Lots of songs have a free-flowing, magically haunting Celtic hint that only Davy could create. A CD definitely worth buying if you like Celtic/New Age/Good Music.

Walking forest trails…
The first few arrangements on this cd are like walking a peaceful meditational Trail in a forest with birds chirping, a lovely fresh breeze at one’s back, light filtering through the leaves of the forest and a gentle babbling brook at the side of the trail. Every turn on the trail as the music passes from one song into the next gives another vista of peace and calm. The later arrangements are light and airy with a touch of smoky modern jazz. As always Davey, and his soul of musical passion, fill his notes with sounds that can evoke tears out of nowhere. Well worth the purchase.

Atmospheric - and the piping shines
Really atmospheric record that just manages to fall short of the 'New Age' pit. Telling vocal contribution from Steve Winwood gives it a kick when it seems to be turning a little sleepy and Mr Spillane's piping shines through as the most thrilling and tingling part of the arrangements and melodies. Listening to it in hot or urban places evokes the wide-open skies and lands of western Ireland and the spirit they imparted to us on our way.
