Great Product , Made well and does what it should.
Needed a smaller seat post base to fit the space on a new boat build that I am doing. This fits great between two hatch lids where as the larger one would decrease the hatch lid size more than I wanted. Works great , made , been using Attwood products on boats for years.

Works as intended.
It does what it should. Was easy to mount and holds the seat well. I used rivnuts to mount it to the bench seat in my Jon Boat and it is solid.

Great mount that's reliable and sturdy but requires some knowledge to install.
I flush mounted 2 of these into a v-hull that I restored. I've seen a couple reviews that help with this but don't go in to detail. The step is 1.5' wide and the stem supports welded in are 2.5" wide. This means you'll need to have a hole that's a little bigger than 2.5' to flush mount. I drilled a 1.5' hole and then routered a cone into the wood seats to allow for the supporting welds additional width. How to flush mount: - If drilling into wood: Drill a 1.5" hole into the surface at a depth of 2.5", then file out a cone shape for the welded supports or drill out a 2.5' wider hole over the first at a depth of only .5' - If drilling into metal or fiberglass: Drill a 2.5' wide hole with a depth of 2.5" The plate itself is about .5' thick. If you want to recess the whole thing into wood like I did. Difficulty in removing the seat post. I've seen a lot of reviews that claim this is extremely difficult and even resulted in broken equipment. I did not have this issue. The friction clamp is secure, yet easy to remove. Once I have the option to upload videos I can show one of me pulling a seat post out with just two fingers. About 30lbs of pressure does it. Overall, these pedestal bases are great. The build is sturdy and it will definitely last. The only issue I have is the challenge to install them. It requires some definite knowledge and additional tools.
