If you are installing a "T" off of your main water supply (for water filtrations, coffee maker, ice maker etc.), make sure it is one that has a valve. That way you can shut off the water supply to your system (e.g., water filtration) without having to shut off your main kitchen faucet. The guy who installed our original RO water filtration just used a T without the valve, and after the water filtration system developed a leak (which they all do after a few years), we could not shut the supply to the filter off without shutting off the kitchen faucet. Bad design. Any T with a valve will do the job. This one worked perfectly fine for me. The T side uses the OD Compression Angle Stop Valve Adapter connection for the standard 1/4" tube which is much more robust and reliable than the so-called 1/4 " plastic easy connects.

The best solution to connect you fridge ice maker to the cold water. This does not need any additional part. Altenatively you can use 1) 3/8 inch,3/8 inch Comp and 3/8 inch OD Compression Angle Stop Valve Adapter 2) with a 3/8 to 1/4 inch reducer 3) and a 1/4 to 1/4 inch hose. Which strangely I was not able to find shorter than 5 feet in canada. Not only you need to pay more, there are many bad reviews about the bad taste of the water with all of these braided hoses. This adapter has solved the problem for me.
