Great Beard Comb
Great hair comb. I use for my goatee, and it works great and has a great smell of Sandalwood.

Every beard deserves this comb!
I was curious about this folding wooden comb. Once getting it, I immediately saw how nicely it stored away in my pocket without any sign of being there. Nestled comfortably next to my key fob and didn’t bulk up my pocket at all. Now the great part where the rubber meets the road! (Or where the comb meets the beard), the tips of the bristles are not sharp meaning no scratching of my cheek or chin. The strength of the tines held up nicely against the tug of my thick beard and slayed it into place! It did not absorb my beard oil at all which was another concern. I am curious how long the hinge will hold up but that remains to be seen. I am getting another for a gift to my friend!

The best I've found... But not perfect.
While this is a very high quality product, it does have one flaw. (at least the one I got did) As noted by some of the other reviewers, the comb part of the folding comb does not want to stay open when using the comb. Tightening the screw does no good as it is designed to only screw in so far so that over-tightening doesn't crack the wood. The solution: I used some very thin (about 1 mm thickness) flexible vinyl to make two washers to fit on each side of the rotating comb part. It makes it very snug and shouldn't wear out for a long time if ever. The difficult part was getting the hand-cut tiny washers to get in place so that I could put the screw through to hold it all together. I actually used a very, VERY tiny amount of superglue to hold the washers to the comb so that it could slide in without the washers losing their place. Just a dot of superglue on each side of the washers with a toothpick was sufficient. I let that dry while pressing it tightly then it slid in place with no issues. I'm surprised that this was overlooked by the company as quite a few people have mentioned this same problem. Thus the 4 instead of 5 stars. This is still a wonderful quality comb and can be made perfect with just those two tiny washers. I also applied some super fine sandpaper to knock down the very tip of the comb to a more rounded shape as it was a little sharper than I liked and felt like it was cutting my ear when I combed closely towards that direction. Again, easily solved but would have been nice if these small issues didn't have to be addressed by the consumer. I highly recommend this comb. I carry it every day in my pocket. It's a little thicker than non-wooden combs but it's not a big deal. It's made of Sandalwood and the natural smell is wonderful. Fully open the comb is exactly 7 1/16 inches (179 mm) long. The closed position dimensions are 30 mm x 107 mm x 13 mm at the widest points (not counting the screw which sits flush about 1 mm each side). The actual teeth of the comb spans 64 mm from first to last saw cut. It fits nicely in my pocket and is great to have handy for a quick moustache and beard combing. I find myself combing my beard just to smell the Sandalwood. Buy this comb for yourself or as a gift to a fellow bearded one. You will love it. You may even be lucky enough to get one that stays open when you receive it. You can always add the washers for more snug operation if you need to.

Could be great, but...
The product is actually nice, the comb unfolds and is a little stiff even when loosened with screw. bBut that is okay I feel it will loosen up over time. But the comb came with a small crack as seen in the pictures at the base in between the teeth. Now I didn’t think this would be too big of an issue but it makes the comb unusable. Hair gets caught in that crack, gets struck, and pulls. There is also a small crack along the spine, which looking at it I don’t think it would cause any issues besides possibly snagging a thread in your pocket. The comb also had a scent I wound say imbedded into the wood. Oil saturated my guess. It is a pleasant smell but it is noticeable. Lastly it is a little thicker than I thought it would be. Not a big deal just wasn’t expecting it to be as thick as it is. You can see from the pictures, measured out it’s .5” thick. I am reaching out to company to see what they say about come and crack. And pending the result I will update this review accordingly. UPDATE Company reached out and replaced the comb immediately. Great customer service, new come works great. Again the only issue I’ve found is the hinge screw likes to come loose. A drop of locktite and it’s good.

Good comb, cheap case.
I like the comb itself. I wish the case was better though. The synthetic leather is hard and a bit plasticky. And it's bulkier than it could be. If the case were made of soft genuine leather, and conformed to the comb, without making the unit so much bigger, I would give this 5 stars. ---- Edit: I purchased a similar "Lumberjack" comb from EcoBee, and compared the two. Overall, the Striking Viking comb is much better, but the Lumberjack case is far superior. Here is a detailed comparison: 1) The finish: the Striking Viking seems to have no coating, giving it an all-natural feel, whereas the Lumberjack has some sort of finish to it that makes it just a tad glossier/shinier. 2) The smell: the Striking Viking comb smells really nice, whereas the Lumberjack comb only smells faintly of wood varnish/finish. 3) The teeth: the Striking Viking has finer teeth (particularly the tips), whereas the Lumberjack's teeth are slightly thicker and more rounded. This results in a very noticeable difference when running the combs through my beard. In the end, I will use the Striking Viking comb and the Lumberjack leather case. But I had to pay for 2 separate items. If only the viking and the lumberjack would combine their strengths and dump their weaknesses...

Purchased as a gift, but my partner keeps it in his pocket and uses multiple times daily. The teeth in the comb were a little crooked, but doesn’t impact functionality.
