My husband loves a restaurant that serves these skewers but we live so far now I figure I'd try a pre-made seasoning I was a little nervous because for seasoning it's a little pricey but it's just want he wanted so I am happy with the purchase I will say it is very spicy which is fine but your nose may burn when grilling lol

This stuff had me sweating! I decided to try this on some chicken breast. I used two tablespoons of this with a few other spices. Coated the chicken breasts with a sesame oil and honey mixture and then rolled them in the seasoning and let sit for a few hours in the refrigerator. Then, I transferred them to an air fryer. While they began cooking, I added honey, sesame oil, and soy sauce to the leftover seasoning in the chicken bowl and mixed it into a sauce. Brushed that on the chicken every few minutes as they air fried. Served over white rice. The results were very savory and really spicy! So spicy, that I feared for the inevitable after effects of eating food with this much heat. But the after effects never materialized. I began to question my own existence......was I going to be able to enjoy spicy food? It would seem so. Although, next time I will probably just make the sauce and brush on during cooking, forego the initial coating. The bag that this comes in is not resealable so I transferred the rest into a resealable mylar bag. I may also put some into a spice jar, now that I realize how little is needed for each recipe.

This was pretty good. Quite spicy. The flavor wasn't bad, but I would have liked it to be a little more interesting.

At the time I chose to get this it only had one review and the person claimed this Chinese bbq did not contain cumin which is one of the top seasonings in a good Sichuan bbq. I am so glad I tried it anyway because it does have it! I included a picture of the bag’s ingredients list and as you can see it’s the 5th ingredient on the list. I’ve had both the meat on a stick in china and hotpot and this seasoning is the closest we’ve come in replicating those wonderful flavors we love. This is a huge bag, just under 1 pound with more than a year out on the expiration date. The bag is not resealable sadly so you’ll want something to put it in to retain its freshness. This has the perfect balance of heat, spices, and bbq sweetness. I’ve done lots of research trying to duplicate the Sichuan bbq flavor and from everything I’ve read should be in it this bag of seasoning has. I can taste all the different spices including star anise and cinnamon. If your wanting a good quality Chinese barbecue seasoning I would definitely recommend this stuff.

My wife bought this Chinese BBQ seasoning to test out. I used it on some steaks and they turned out delicious. Lots of flavor. I will say the chili flavor is a little more than what I want on BBQ. I noticed that when I smelled the seasoning after opening the package, but it is good nonetheless. I may have overseasoned the meat a bit. I think using it as a marinade may work well too. I will try that out next time to see the difference. Overall, I do like the seasoning; it is packed with flavor.

The new package one doesn't taste spicy at all. I need the old one back!!!

Makes your BBQ taste exactly like restaurant quality without the price, need less powder than indicated in the instructions on the back = more uses! We used with sesame oil, was delicious, needed a touch of salt but that’s an easy fix and doesn’t warrant taking a star off.
