There are several different types of impellers, but I had no trouble finding the right one thanks to descriptions and measurements shown. A quick and easy fix.

It doesn't fit with the pump that I bought together as a package.

The number one reason I gave this five stars is because it actually replaced the Marineland impeller #PR1268 for the model 170B Penguin hang on tank filter. The magnet is just barely smaller in diameter than the original, but since you’re already looking for a replacement impeller, your old one's magnetic field has gotten weaker over time, and this replacement more than makes up for that. The shaft length is the same, blades are the same size, and the mechanical turn mechanism is identical. This makes zero noise when swapped out with the old one. Marineland has dropped support for the older Penguin 170 filter model (at about the same time as they transferred all their manufacturing to China), and won’t mention that the PR3088 (PFE2) will replace that older impeller, but I can assure you that it worked fine in my 7-year old hang on tank filter with no alterations and no adjustments. Flow was as I remember it when it was new. I’m reluctant to give five stars to anything made in China, as my experience with auto, aquarium, machine parts, pumps, electronics, etc. shows their working life to be nothing comparable to that of the original OEM parts. However, this beats having to buy a complete new filter, and if it lasts six months, I’ll be satisfied. (Also, nuisance snails sucked up into the filter have broken several impellers in the past.) Looking for 170B impeller replacement? This will fit. Spread the word, since I don’t do social media, and I’m sure others would like to know this.
