Virbac CET HEXtra Premium Oral Hygeine for Dogs, under 11 lbs(Pack of 1)

My dog is a picky hygiene chew eater, and she doesn't really chew anything, just gobbles food down whole! But she loves the taste! The product does a good job keeping her teeth free of tarter build up, but I also us it with Vetoquinol Dentahex Pet Oral Hygiene Rinse which keeps her breath smelling less like a dog.

Was introduced to these chew sticks by our groomer. They are a bit pricey in my opinion, but the dog loves them.

I give it high marks as my fussy Pekingese loved it. I purchased the poultry flavor, XS size. They are small, approximately 1” wide, 5” long and 1/2” thick. Easy for my 8 year old 15 pounder with good teeth, to chew up quite quickly. They are vet approved, made in Mexico, and are for dogs 11 pounds and up. Another great Virbac product. Would recommend.

So far this is my favorite dental chew I've used for my dog. Chlorohexidine is used in hospitals all the time to clean skin, and there's even chlorohexidine mouth wash for humans so I know its proven to work. I would much rather spend a few more dollars for something that is guaranteed to do an excellent job at cleaning my dogs teeth. I like that it uses both mechanical AND chemical action to clean rather than other dental chews that rely mostly on mechanical action to scrape plaque off of the teeth. My dog also prefers the taste of this dental treat compared to other enzymatic chews. I also found that it lasts longer than non-rawhide chews. I know that rawhide has its pros and cons but currently this is the only dental chew on the market that uses chlorohexidine and works this well. I consider it safe as long as your dog doesn't gulp down large chunks without chewing and its not given in large amounts.

These are great for their teeth and your dog will love them but for me it was a little pricey so I switched to another brand but they are excellent at removing tartar.

And I must tell you the improvement in King Louie's "death breath" allows me to remain as close as ever as he isn't long for the world yet doing well on his way to heaven as I will not let him suffer and he's surpassed his prognosis by a full year with happiness and eating and moving great! Is he living for THESE CHEWS? He's such a foodie lol, and If so, can I get a membership discount LOL? And friends, I cannot tell you how sensitive so many breeds tummys are yet with careful observation of their enjoying the first bag without anything but success, WE HAVE FINALLY FOUND....THE ONE!!! I was advised to buy these for my dog. Thank goodness she likes them because she's a picky with her treats. Hopefully they work on her teeth. She's a small dog, vet said to break off a small pieces and give every day.

DANGEROUS! My dog LOVES these and I thought they were safe bc my vet also sells them. Every day, my dog get one. Six hours after receiving one, I look over at my dog who had been sleeping beside me curled up, and he is looking as he is convulsing, his mouth is clamped shut, and his eyes are glazing over and I can see he is DYING. I have no idea what is happening then I realize he is trying to paw at his face - he is choking in silence bc he has NO air. We swept his airway and accidentally pushed whatever it was into his throat which saved his life. The ER vet after XRAYs, MRI and forced regurgitation determined that the chew was still in large pieces in his stomach (we saw them, they were huge), and he must’ve burped some up SIX HOURS after eating one and that blocked his airway and almost killed him. We usually get the other Virbac CET treats and this month the HEX were the only ones in his size- they’re much thinner and he ate them faster, and maybe that has something to do with little he chewed them. These also stink a lot more and came a weird brown color, not white. Never, ever again.
