Small but mighty
This little Pentalic Pocket Sketchbook is a quiet overachiever. The 3" x 4" size is perfect for tossing in a pocket or bag, which means it’s always there when inspiration decides to show up unannounced. The black cover feels sturdy and sleek, and the binding holds up beautifully even with frequent use. The paper quality is surprisingly good for such a compact sketchbook. It handles pencil, pen, and light ink without bleeding, and the 160 pages give plenty of room for sketches, notes, doodles, and creative brain dumps. It’s ideal for travel, daily practice, or capturing ideas on the fly. If you like having a reliable little creative companion wherever you go, this sketchbook absolutely delivers. Small but mighty. 🖤📓

Grid Dot Bullet Journaling
This was my very carefully researched first bullet journal to try. I really enjoy it a few weeks in. I bought the 6x8 gray dot grid with the orange elastic strap. My big criterion before purchasing were durability and dot grid paper thickness. So far, about two months in, I'm very pleased. The cover material on the gray leather one is great. It's smooth, a little "cushiony" if you will. Seems to be wearing in well, though mine lives on my desk more than in my handbag. The elastic strap has already left a bit of an impression on the leather a little less than two months in, but I truly don't care. The paper is a nice "quiet" white, not to bright a white, and not the ivory that made me decide against the Rhodia version. The dots are consistent, though a perhaps just a little too dark a gray for my taste. The curved shape of the pages will probably help prevent bent and icky corners. The paper thickness is really enjoyable, and from other photos of other journals, bleed-though seems less likely than in other similar products - this is a very EXCELLENT paper choice for those wishing to utilize both sides of the paper. Please note that I do not have any fountain pens to show how that goes. But show-through is minimal to non-existent with gel pens, metallic water-based inks, art liners, even brush pens. No, you can't expect lack of show-through from alcohol based inks, but then that's a whole other ballgame on paper quantity versus quality. If you want to use copics, prismas and so forth (which I enjoy), you're probably going to want to look into the Crescent paper notebooks from my research. Given my love of gel pens and technical pens, though, there's a lot of possibility with the Pentalic. It even accepts light washes over Inktense pencils, which I thought was impressive, without any real show through. The envelope at the back is great for coupons or receipts. Held a few pieces of cardstock for me while on the road without deforming the profile of the book. I do wish the cover page and back insert were not a darker ivory color, as I don't think this coordinates well with the white paper and gray cover, but that's me being very picky. I do wish the book laid a little flatter, but perhaps that will get better over time. I've bent back the cover and pages while doodling on the couch, and the paper withstands un-careful handling very impressively. I feel like this fulfills most of my wants for a bullet journal, and feel no need to look elsewhere anytime soon. Edit: the center of the book not laying flat is the only thing that would make this perfect in every way. Really wishing there was a spiral version, cause this paper is the bomb.

Good
I wanted a small book to put on my desk at work for sketches. The paper isn't the best for all media's though. It has a pocket in back cover, about the size of a credit card. I like the material, bookmark, and elastic band.

Nice, portable sketch bk, but…
This is an ideal pocket sketchbook to carry around and quickly capture art/nature/architecture ideas using a pencil or pen. And the paper feels so nice and smooth. Be careful tho with the media you use to do your sketches/artwork. Pencil, pen, microns, colored pencils work great. However, paper not thick enough for watercolor paint, watercolor markers, or alcohol markers. 🙁. They all bleed through. Oh well, I have many other notebooks that can handle all kinds of media!!😉 Would I order again - absolutely!!

Very Good Little Sketchbook
UPDATED REVIEW: I’ve purchased a couple of these, and I really love them! The paper is decent, I would consider it to be a very smooth paper, slight tooth, but not a ton. It can take most mediums very well, but doesn’t stand out as a phenomenal paper for any. By that I mean, it is great for markers (my favorite medium in this book), but as you should expect with most sketchbooks it bleeds through, and it definitely sinks through very quickly saturating the page to the back. It’s good for color pencil, but don’t expect it to hold tons of layers with such a smooth surface. It works with watercolor, but dries quickly, and works best with light washes. Sketching and erasing will show some lines if your are heavy handed. Inking is smooth, but ball point pens can take a minute to start on this paper (they usually need a quick scribble to get going). All in all, it feels nice to use. The cover is pliable, making it easy to bend and manipulate if you’re like me and like to turn your sketchbooks while also staying close to your work surface. The covers do come with some dents and imperfections, I have received a pristine one yet. It doesn’t bother me because the cost is great, and lets face it, it’s a sketchbook and the cover will take some abuse overtime anyway. It just looks like a well loved book when I get them, and I think that’s kind of cool. OLD REVIEW: I really love this pocket sketchbook. I do wish I got a slightly larger size, and I still plan to, but I do love how small this is for quick sketches. My original intent for this sketchbook was to do quick daily drawings, and it has been great for that. I love the paper, very smooth, perfect for alcohol markers. I've used colored pencils with this as well, and they blend almost effortlessly! I would say for watercolor expect to only be able to use thin washes, and expect the pages to warp a bit, but the strap really does help flatten the pages in the end. The cover is really nice and flexible, able to fold over to the back. It takes some manipulating in the beginning, but you can get the book to lie mostly flat once you break up some of the glue between the sections. I haven't used the folder, but it seems quite room-y, and the book mark is great for helping you find your place quickly.

Good binding, good paper quality (though I keep away from watercolours/manga markers). Lovely materials. Dots are pale enough to allow drawing.

Arrived with slightly bend corners and the dots are darker than I like for bullet journaling but the size and quality is great.
