Review: Good info and reading. Review: I have a few David Day books and they are hit and miss. Just like Day's Heroes of Tolkien, when I saw this title I expected a in world lore book on the Enemy and Dark Powers of Middle-earth. Much like the a-z Tolkien book he did decades ago. Yet this one is a cross reference book on what he believes are inspirations for Tolkien's creations on characters and concepts. There is some colored art pages, which are nice. Yet splattered throughout are black and white images that have been popping up in Day Tolkien books for years. If you ARE looking for a Tolkien guide that feels like it is written in the world of Middle-earth, try J.E.A Tyler.
