Good product. As described. Small and compact. Perfect bedside clock. Loud enough alarm. Got this for my elderly uncle and he is very happy with it. The radium is bright enough and it keeps time accurately. I do not know if this is really a original Casio brand or some copy. It is certainly more expensive than other table clocks and for that it is not really value for money as you get bigger clocks for lesser price. But the person using it is happy and I guess utimately that's what is important.

When I decided to get a timepiece with an alarm function for my daughter, my eyes fell on this Casio clock (TQ-140) which someway reminded me of an alarm clock I used to have during my college days good two decades back. Even today these type of alarm clocks are very much popular among shoppers who are looking for a functional product and advancement in technology in this space doesn't matter much to them. Being one of them, I decided to invest in this clock. This is an old model and has proven itself over time. Now, let's get straight to the product and see what's good and not so good. First of all, this is a cute looking square faced (5.6 x 5.6cm edge-to-edge) alarm clock that can easily slide into your trouser pocket. What this means is, you can carry it anywhere you want and space shouldn't be a concern. I got the black dial variant, so it is an all black clock which looks good while making its presence felt on the desk or by the bedside. Now, that black dial can be an issue with some of our senior shoppers or those who don't like black dial in a timepiece. Though the face dimensions may seem small on a scale but the markings and needles are bold and easily visible. Second needle makes that tchik..tchik sound (does not sweep as some reviewers have earlier written or answered before) but a silent one which shouldn't disturb your sleep. Both hour and minute needles glows in the dark which suggests that there is radium or some other active material that glows in the dark. I feel the hour markings are just neon coloured stickers since they're not so clear at night. In complete darkness the needles are clearly visible and put a little extra effort on your eyes and hour markings are also visible. This can be a deal breaker for some of us. In my opinion, Casio should have made even the hour markings to glow better in the dark. Now, coming to alarm...it makes a beeping sound and not the loud and harsh tringgg....tringgg type. Alarm is loud enough to wake up even the heavy sleepers. Slide the switch from the back to turn on the alarm and push it down to turn it off. For those who're used to snoozing alarms at least a few times before they're out of the bed then this one is not for you. Alarm adjustment can be little tricky if you want to wake up in between the hour since markings do not clearly tell you if the alarm is going to ring at the exact time you want to. Until you get used to, it is wise to set the alarm little early over missing your early morning flight or train. But over a few days/weeks I am sure one can master it. Enclosure for the AA battery is at the back and cover for it goes across horizontally. Press from both sides and pull to remove the cover. Casio includes a branded AA battery with the clock so you don't have to go looking for a spare one. The knob at the back has a dual function - in pushed state it allows you to set the alarm time and pull it to adjust the clock time. Finally, let me tell what comes with the clock. Alarm clock was nicely packed and shipped by Amazon. Bought it for Rs.399/- on Prime day deal against printed MRP of Rs.425/-. Opted for no-rush shipping, which gave me Rs.25 cashback. All in all, I think it was a good deal. Inside the carton, along with the clock came a 2 years warranty card + additional 6 months on registering the product online and a warranty manual. There are some shoppers who have mentioned there is no warranty on the product. There is no user manual and I don't think you need one to operate this simple clock. The Country of Origin is China and imported by Casio India. Overall, the product is good, functional and does what it is designed for backed by Casio's 2.6 years warranty. Hope the detailed review was useful and will help you in making an informed decision.
