Original Penguin Men's Earl Fixed Waist Volley Swim Trunk

Got these shorts for my upcoming honeymoon as I ripped the crotch in my other pair of vintage style shorts. These things are great. They look good, they fit great, and they are just the right length. The picture is very accurate as to where they fall. I'm about 5'10 and weigh about 180. I got a 33 and they fit well. Not a lot of room left in the waist, but I guess that's incentive for me to lose a few pounds.They feel good moving around in. The fabric doesn't stretch much, but I tried squatting in them and raising my legs as if I were getting in/out of a car and I didn't feel like I was going to rip them or pop a stitch.Without having actually used them for swimming, I already love them. I can't wait to actually try them out for their intended purpose.

I am going to go into detail so that you know what you are getting.I really liked the fabric used on this swim shorts (100% Polyester, but smooth and solid). For once I don't have to worry about my manhood sticking out like a braless woman' breasts at a wet t-shirt competition. That is what I was really looking to avoid and I am glad they got this one right. I had never heard of the brand Penguin, but they got my attention now. I wear a size 30 and this one fits just perfect at that size. The laces that are pictured in the front of the shorts don't actually go around the waist like I thought they would. It's more like the type girls wear...which I found a little too femenine for my taste. I'm hoping no one else notices them when I am wearing it! Anyway, the laces allow you to tighten up the shorts only about 1 inch. The fly on this shorts is actually the VELCRO type, which I find out is not very friendly to your friend down there when you have to go and don't want to sit. It has 5 pockets total, which I found convenient. 1 hidden small pocket around the front/right side below the waistband. 2 shallow rear pockets and 2 front deep pockets. They are not built out of solid fabric, but rather out of a mesh...I don't know why they would do that, but I guess water and sand have to stay out of your pockets somehow! I am a size 30 and about 5'6" tall and when I have the shorts on they are bout 2 inches above my knee. They are loose around the hips and the inseam is not too short and it is also double sewn, which means that the shorts should fit most butt sizes just right and they will not explode on you should you be on the heavier side back there. They don't look just like plain shorts, they actually look good enough to take a walk in around Central Park. I will definitely be looking to buy the same style in a different color.

This is a perfect set of swiming trunks; exactly what I was looking for. They fit true to size. I wear a 34 in pants and for some reason ordered a 36 per other reviewers recs but hey were to large. Returned for a set of 34s and they fit like a glove. Nice cut as well. Im 6'1" and they sit very similar to the model pic ~3-4" above the knee. All (4) pockets are funcional and the materials and craftsmanship seem very good. Price is a little high but I think for the quality, fit, and style they are well worth it.

Amazing , perfect fit , Great quality and vibrant color . I bought the Biscay bay(blue) swim short for my husband. To start with, I don't like shorts which are baggy /puffy considering my husband is thin. I preferred a perfect fitted shorts and this was the perfect choice. His waist length is 30 " and I bought the size 30 . It fits him exactly, and the short looks chic and classy. The quality is good, he went swimming in the sea many times. I wanted shorts with cord rather than elastic and this met my requirement. The color is exactly the same as shown in the picture. I would definitely consider buying other colors next time :)

These are my favorite swim shorts. I have worn the speedos and the board shorts. These are conservative enough to wear yet they are stylish as well. The size needs to be spot on. I had a size 34 and now it is too big. I wear 32 in men's wear but these were too small. I ended up needing a size 33.

These are exactly what I was looking for with perfect quality, length, fit, and material. I would say the size is true to size for me, the material feels great and is not too heavy nor too light. I definitely like the piping which makes these much less boring than other swim shorts. I have a 34" inseam and would say the length of the shorts on the dude on the picture is pretty representative of the length on me. These swim shorts really deserve 5 stars but I'm going to knock down a star because they, like all the other swim shorts of similar design, have a velcro fly which snares the draw strings and makes them fray. I was going to return these for this reason but I realized there's nothing perfect on this world, not even swim shorts unfortunately, and I liked all the other features (hence the 4 stars). I don't understand why manufacturers simply do not use a plastic zipper fly??? It will make things so much simpler in all respects (including bathroom trips)! So I knocked one star for that. If anyone does stumble upon a zipper fly swim short I would seriously welcome a reply to this review.

First - please note I had to return my size 32 for a 34 - a 32 would've fit fine if I wear them at my waist... but I (as I feel most fit males do) wear them lower, a bit below the hip. So size up if you want to wear them lower!But oh my, what a perfect short when the size is right. I hate the typical look of normal surfer shorts nowadays. They are too long, too baggy and just look terrible. Penguin has updated a classic look but not in an overtly fashionable way where these are too short for your normal guy. They are a perfect length (especially if you, as I mentioned before, wear them below the hip like myself).The normal short pockets are an added bonus, as I comfortably walked the Vegas strip in these after a pool party for a hot afternoon with all my and my gf's stuff in my pockets. My only negative, is I HATE Velcro on boardshorts, but this is a very small price to pay for the best pair of shorts I've bought in years. Looking at buying more colors for the summer!
