Ordered the TV through Amazon and it came unbelievably fast--maybe 5 days. We were home when delivered but the delivery people just left in front of the garage door and never knocked on our door, leaving the box in an upside-down position. It was a challenge for me and my husband to move this 70 lb box inside the garage to get it out of the weather. Once inside, I noticed a fist-sized hole in the box.It took several days to get two guys to lift the TV into our Great Room. After opening, discovered the hole in the outer box went clear through the inner box, but it appeared no noticeable damage was apparent.Spent so many days & hours searching & reading reviews in selecting a new 65" TV. We had no interest in gaming, so that was not an issue. We wanted a quality picture that worked in our rather dark room. Didn't want the need for a sound bar. And based on many reviews, getting the 120 Hz speed seemed important. After much deliberation, we chose the Sony X85J which is a 2021 model as we preferred not to go over $1,000 Purchase Price. Could have purchased a 2022 model with only the 60 Hz speed for $200 less but the salespeople insisted that was old technology and to have seamless fast motion, 120 Hz was the way to go.Now that we've had the TV for maybe 3 weeks, I wouldn't have spent the xtra money for this one. Currently, we have a much older Sony Bravia TV that has excellent picture quality and color. I was expecting the new 4K TV to knock my socks off. I found Zero difference in the new TV than in my 12 yr. old TV. I since discovered there is very little broadcasting in 4K. So all this hype for 4K is just that--sales hype. I have put both my older Sony Bravia on the same station as the new one and there is no distinct appreciation in picture quality. In fact the older model is actually better when viewing films with a dark background--filming in dark wood, etc.For those folks who had lesser quality TV's prior, they will consider this TV an upgrade. Our problem is we always had a terrific picture. When you go to Best Buy, they stream a colorful scene over and over on the display TV's that makes the picture seem magnificent. You don't see a regular TV show. It's always the same 15 seconds over and over and, of course, they know how to adjust the settings to maximize the picture quality. I did adjust the picture setting to it's highest/best view. The salespeople at Best Buy try to direct your attention to Sony--the pricing is higher for the most part. Because we had terrific experience with our current Sony, that was easy to lean toward. The picture is great on a limited number of stations. But the same stations are great on our non-4K TV. This Sony comes with a remote that still includes a numeric keypad for punching in the stations. I feel this is easier to use than holding the up or down arrow to scroll through tons of stations. We are new to the streaming world, so just learning our way around. By keeping our local cable company, the channel numbers stay the same, so my non-tech husband is happy he can find all his Sports channels with no trouble.Possibly, those models ranging in the $2500 bracket may have some significant differences, but that was not our budget. I've heard these new TV's have a much shorter lifespan -- 4-5 years. Since our former Sony was a true winner, I'm hoping for $1,000 this Sony stays the course. The only reason I gave this TV a 3 star rating is because I don't see any big difference for being a 4K. I just assumed every station/channel would have a fabulous picture. It only happens when there is 4K broadcasting which is very limited. And because we don't do gaming, paying for the 120 Hz speed was not money well spent. Sony always made a quality product. Everyone just has to evaluate what is important to them. Also, the salespeople insisted they don't get the repair calls on Sony as the other brands--important for us.

Very pleased so far
So far we've been in love with this TV. This was kind of a family splurge in response to extra money coming in but honestly it cost less than the 50" I bought years ago, shhh. Its huge taking up majority of a wall (in a good way) but light enough me and my 5' wife could lift it to the mount without too much effort. Read the instructions upon opening though. The box is a genius design wasted as we opened it like a book (in our defense it practically opened it self at barest pull on a seam). The brightness and the picture have been great with a certain glare that plagued our old tv not being a problem. The sound is so good that its rarely turned on. We had an existing LG soundbar and its own remote which no one bothers to keep up with so I stuck it in a drawer and haven't been bothered to try and get it controlled some other way. On the rare occasion we sit down for a spectacle movie I may turn it on for more sub woofer bass but it mostly adds some depth. The software brings a tear to my eye, as a software developer watching the increasing software based world we live in becoming commoditized garbage that works properly so little that people have become used to it even in critical situations, in contrast this TV has been a dream. Responsive not buggy, but also thoughtfully engineered and ergonomically design for great user experiences. I chose it specifically for google tv because I trust no company to have microphones and internet connectivity in home without control (no you don't have any even if they say you do and thats been proven repeatedly) but my 8% trust in google is higher than my 0% trust in Alexa. Plus I have a pixel phone so I can at least limit the number of companies listening to every word. Somehow Amazon still displays listings for things I mention to my wife in person when the microphone is supposedly disabled but I digress. We cut the cord over 5 years ago and it mostly means navigating simple ui to select apps whether on the TV itself or roku etc... This is streaming service management done right making it feel almost like these are channels just playing their whole catalog all the time. At Christmas its category on holiday movies pretty much presented every available holiday movie we could find with deep searching in the apps themselves. A few years ago we used an old laptop for playing PC games on the family TV but it was in the way and the fam rarely did anything with it if I wasn't setting it up. I saw a steam app in the app store and installed it... then began playing all but the most graphically intense with an xbox controller bluetooth paired to the TV directly. The ones it can't play are not even the TV's fault its the network unable to handle the latency even with ethernet. No idea how successful using wireless would be but I imagine all the family and party games would be ok. Which brings me to the one and only con I can even reach for and it is a reach.Cons:Since phone apps usually require you to be on the same wifi as the device, even though the device is on ethernet on the same network, it won't work with wifi turned off.The two biggest headaches aren't even sony's fault entirely (maybe not at all) since they are likely caused by the apps. With the the above even when wifi is on some apps seem to have trouble working properly with it mostly using ethernet. Google apps seems to work fine but I doubt it maintains a stable wifi connection when may be used for 1 second twice a day at best. The other issue is misbehaving apps (looking at you steam when I let my PC go to sleep you won't let go of control while presenting a black screen). But in an seemingly obvious but apparently genius stroke, some buttons like power, settings, input and usually home work even when the thing appears locked up so I can hit settings go to apps and force stop the app in about 6 seconds. Our roku in similar situations may need the power cord yanked. The other change is in the previously unused, unwanted and seemingly redundant service of Stadia. Streaming games has latency issues and isn't ready for primetime, but my xbox controller is already paired and I got months of free trial due to pixel phone and youtube music accounts I should fire it up out of boredom and mild curiosity right? Its not like I'm going to pay for another service, right? Especially for games when it can't do VR and many of the games I play don't work well for streaming due to latency so what would be the point... its just curiosity while its free... crap.

I donβt know where to start.π€©
I had an impromptu decision to buy a tv. I wasnβt planning onto buy one but Amazon had options of paying for my purchase in 12 months and less than a 100$ per month. It seemed like an amazing idea and so I decided to buy this tv.Moving on to the tv: The image is crisp and colors are amazing. I was using a Toshiba before which was just HD Tv. So for me it was a massive upgrade. I use it to play my PS and I am happy with the output.Sound: I have always used a soundbar with my tv. But I am happy with the sound output with this tv and wonβt probably be buying a sound bar for this tv.Should you buy it? HELL YEAH. You will love it.If I am not happy or something major, I will update my review.

OK-ish TV for the price - shipping a single unit is problematic - got 2 broken ones back to back
Bought this TV (65in) knowing very well that it didn't have any local dimming. Was actually looking for a TV without local (or global) dimming as blooming and zone changes. The good :UI is REALLY quick - having a GoogleTV is nice. There are ADs, as expected, but it's super fluid and probably the best on the market. Integration with Apps is above and beyond what's normally available because of this. Surprisingly, the HDMI CEC works A1 with my Anthem AV receiver (not eARC, it's too old) - wasn't as lucky with the few Samsungs I had before. Contrast is amazing for a TV without any sort of dimming. The Bad :shipping box is kinda lacking when it comes to protection... but I don't see how they can fix that. The first set I received had very bad light leak at the top. Check the blue-ish picture (extreme angle, max backlight, dark room, complete black image). I wasn't too impressed but then I realized that it was because the whole top of the screen was bent! (see 2nd picture). The box was pristine - so was the packaging material. Spoke with a local Sony TV repair shop and he told be that these really need to be shipped with the box vertical. If it's shipped face-down at some point and it gets bumped, the curved styrofoam piece in front of the TV will bend it. Checked my security footage -you guessed it, it was face down in the Purolator truck... but that was the last truck, who knows what happened during transit.Oh well, returned and asked for a replacement with Amazon right? Had to chat with someone but it was quick and efficient. They told me I could keep / donate the defective TV. Oh well...The next day, I got a shipping label in the mail - reached out again "sorry, our supplier wants it back".. oh well.. I check and It fits in my car for a UPS drop off. Not a big deal. The Ugly :Got the replacement TV 2 days later. Purolator again, different driver. TV was up-right (in that truck at least). Box looks ok. Never open, still has the packing straps and the factory tape. I open it up, the top foam piece has extra tape compared to the 1st TV. I pull it out and yup, the part that protects the top left corner of the TV was busted at some point and was taped back on. I assume this was done during packaging at the factory? And guess what : the top left of the screen is busted open. I tried clipping it back to no avail.Back to UPS.. and decided to buy a TV that was shipping to a store on a pallet.. vertically and I could pick it up and bring it home carefully.Bottom line : TVs aren't really meant to be shipped individually unless extreme care is taken during the WHOLE shipping process.Went to a local store - the employee mentioned a few issues with this specific model (higher % or returns for busted packaging at the factory) so I went with another brand (LG). Packaging was WAY better.Too bad because the built-in chromecast and the UI with Google TV was A LOT better than WebOS on my LG now.

Runs on Linux
I gave this tv 4 out of 5 stars based on a lack of apps. Sony only allows certain apps and the Android's play store is not one of them, so you will be shut out of a lot of android apps.Setup was quick and easy. Picture is stunning. You'll need at least two people to mount it on the wall. The living decor app is excellent. The USB ports are very slow to access hard drives or sticks, and this tv does not like mkv movie files.

Completely satisfied!
This is my 1st 4K TV, replacing a 10 year old Sony HDTV.- Google TV is very responsive, no issues- I have watched 4K content from Netflix , Amazon Prime, Disney+, and Apple TV and everything looks great- Upscaled content from my cable TV provider also is very nice- Sound quality is quite good, I don't see a need for a Sound Bar
