Easily the best 360 camera even after all these years
My review is purely based on still photos. Between the Theta X and Insta360 one-rs 1 inch, the z1 still wipes the floor when it comes to image quality. There’s no comparison. The insta360 1 inch is so bad I only use it in homes with EXCEPTIONALLY good light or when my z1 is dead. The Theta X is so bad in low light I returned it although it was close to the insta360 1 inch in image quality. Don’t let their own marketing devalue this device. If all you care about is image quality regardless of the other features, then stop with the z1. This is my 3rd z1. I use them for my real estate media business. One I broke trying to replace the battery myself and the 2nd was dropped. There are two negatives but not enough to knock it from the top of my tier list. 1). Battery life sucks even when brand new. I get an hour at most before needing to recharge it. It’s also not user replaceable. 2) Give it a flipping touchscreen already. It’s been 6 years! Just update these two items and it won’t be touchable at all. The only area it falls short is video features (doesn’t matter for my use case), battery (non replaceable and short lasting) and a touch interface.

Much better image results
Wow! I do real estate 3D tours in Matterport and Zillow. I had been using the Insta 360 X3 for awhile but noticed bad image quality, short distance between scans and blown out windows. The scans also took a long time per "click" while capturing. My first test with the Theta Z1 and the skies are blue, not blown out, the distance I am able to place my monopod is much further without an error. ( I had to place every 3 feet w the Insta!) I am at least 6 feet now and the scans are a bit faster per click. Also, the white balance is much more realistic! I feel great about this purchase.

My favorite camera
I build virtual tours for a living. Between Amazon and other stores, I’ve purchased over 30 of these cameras. By far the best image quality for a single shot 360 camera, even better than many that cost more.

Gerat Improvement over other models.
I've had several model of the Ricoh Theta. Compared to the Theta V the picture quality is much better, especially in lower lighting. The Wifi connectivity is also much better than past models. It holds a connection much further away with more objects blocking the way too. I mainly use it for images of new construction rough-ins and finish homes. So far its been a huge improvement over the lower end models and I think its worth the extra cost.

Overpriced Garbage - DO NOT BUY
Plenty of other 360 cameras are half the price, do the same thing, and have better build quality. This camera looks and feels cheap, the app that controls it is terrible, battery life was literally going down 1% every few minutes just by trying to get it to connect to the app, which it wouldn't do. I could connect via the wifi settings menu on my phone no problem, but when you go to the app it makes you reconnect it and says it can't find the wifi, even though I was just on it. I followed every troubleshooting step, including updating firmware, and nothing worked. This camera is garbage and the engineers at Ricoh that build it should be ashamed of themselves. DO NOT BUY Also...it takes over a month to get your money back when you return it. What a joke...

Solid camera.
I like the feel of the camera, good weight and body structure. I can feel its a quality build. Comes with a protective cover and charging cable (USB-C Type). I loaded all the software and apps and was publishing within an hour. The image quality is great and you can do minor tweeks if need be. The APP lets you do minor adjustments which comes in handy. I'm a first time user and can recommend this camera. I do real estate photography and it does what I want it to do.

It's ok
quality is good, battery life is terrible, connection is ok. lenses are not replaceable, so don't use Ricoh monopods, or you'll need a new camera.

Good - but not quite perfect.
I am a real estate photographer and needed a new 360 camera for 3D walkthroughs of people's properties. The Theta Z1 came highly recommended and it's that way for a reason. The image quality and HDR from this camera is stellar. Not quite Matterport quality, but also for only a fraction of a Matterport price. Plus, if one was so inclined, the Z1 should work for most Matterport tours, minus a few small items like the dollhouse view, etc. Otherwise, it works beautifully for standard home 3D tours. It is delicate, so I would highly recommend the soft rubber cover that you can buy for one of these. They also have a cover for the lenses, which is extremely helpful, as damaging the lenses are something you want to avoid in order to get consistently good tours/images captured by the device.
