A classic
To read a riveting non-fiction in this form is a privileged experience while keeping in mind that it is a narrative as seen in first person with the front row seat in the battlefront. Indira Gandhi was a mother goddess. The book shows how the wily and sharp cross examination of Shanti Bhushan nailed the lies of this mother goddess in open court. In India we tend to revere and bend to authority since the British left. Its marvellous to know through this book how few men kept their backs straight and argued a case which even they did not believe that they would win. After all, they were against the Indira Gandhi.Prashant Bhushan has preserved for posterity a record that the government would have wanted to erase. Try finding this case in law journals and you'll know what I mean. I am a proud holder of this book and its worth every little penny I paid in having it shipped from US to India.

Landmark Judgment (needs wider publicity)
It's excellent that this book is available, but I think there are a few things that could have been improved. Firstly the title. It's an excellent subtitle, but as a title it fails. This is a landmark case. Why not say what it is about? Otherwise readers who don't open the book will not know what it is about. It's not an original subtitle either. Seven days that shook the world was a book about the Russian revolution, so its clearly taken from that. I can think of very many titles that would have worked better. Say 'Unseating the Indian Prime Minister' - then the nature of the book and the materials within becomes very clear to everyone.Secondly I'm sure Mr Bhushan wishes this book to be read; the money is secondary. So he should have (and can still do) put the material online so that anyone can print it off. Judgements of far lesser significance are available on line at American university websites. The previous reviewer had to buy the book and get it shipped from India. Not everyone wishes to go that trouble. These are matters perhaps extraneous to the book itself and it should not be evaluated on such a basis. So in view of the fascinating material, I give it a four star rating, slashing off only a single star for the above reasons.
