The Book Of The Law [Crowley, Aleister] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Book Of The Law Review: Better Than I Expected - I purchased this book because I’ve heard a lot about it. I wasn’t sure what to expect because it’s very different from the religious beliefs I was raised with. This book is a fantastic read. It opened my mind to new ideas and new perspectives. My husband also read a copy. I don’t want to reveal much about this book because if you’re here reading reviews, you’re meant to read the book. Trust yourself and buy it. Review: To Do as thy Will is the Whole of the Law: Love under Will. - Thelema: takes its' dramatic and infamous LAW from the ancient sources of The Sumerians, as well as the Book of revelations within the Catholic( Christian) Bible. Clearly and sensuously written, it states a definite rebuttal of the absurd Puritan status Quo, while reveling in esoteric erotic imagery. This IS a living book of Spells, and a clarion call to become through Nature's gifts , a fully evolved Being. {Because every Man or Woman is a Star} Crowley writes with the energy of the great showman of Magic sex and mysticism that he was. Though he is bombastic, I cannot think of anybody who was more fascinating, and more modern for the time he lived in: The most evil man in the world, the"Great Beast" was and is an adoring and passionate soul, with WAY more compassion and beauty within, than the sordid and hateful Christians of this Era. Hailz to Crowley!

Thelemic sacred text book
So the average reader might read the first chapter, if that..realistically the first page, and think it's just rantings by a mad man, the "devil worshipper". The problem was that Crowley was and still is vilified by the church. When a person sees you reading Crowley you get the "dirty look". Those that do study Crowley's work know it's his works are very in depth and can be quite clever. My favorite quote is "Every man and woman is a star". Sounds insane, but the meaning is so perfectly explained in Lon Milo DuQuette's "Understanding Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot". I find that DuQuette is able to "decode" some of the more crazier parts of Crowley's works. The Book of the Law is the "sacred text" of Thelema. It was supposively dictated to Crowley on his wedding night from an entity named Aiwass. The book only has 3 chapters, in the 1st person perspectives of Thelemic deities Nuit, Hadit, and Ra-Hoor-Khuit. The Book of the Law may be short in pages, but the amount of knowledge is intense and should be revisited as I find with most Crowley works, you just seem to find or understand more each time. So to completely review this book, it's difficult to explain to those that have not read it. It is not a "read through" book. It's very rich and loaded with interesting logic.

Typos
I don't recommend this edition of The Book of the Law, as it contains numerous typos.

It is what you'd expect.
It's the Book of the Law by Crowley. You're ordering this because it's what you specifically want but truth be told: DuQuette's book on Magick of Aleister Crowley also includes the Book of the Law, so if you have extra cash, just get that. But if you need a book to keep notes in or just to have specifically this, by all means, get it.

Love is the law .. Love under Will
Five Stars for those who read it, for those who understand it, for those who live it. It's difficult to quantify something as profound as Liber AL vel Legis because this compex yet very short text says much in the few pages issued. Dictated to Aleister Crowley, by a discarnate entity named Aiwass during early April of 1904 in Cairo, Egypt, the book constitutes the central sacred text of Thelema. It proclaims the arrival of a new stage in the spiritual evolution of humanity, known as the "Æon of Horus".The primary doctrine of this new aeon is the charge to "Do what thou wilt". The interpretation of which, is far more complex than merely do anything you want. It points to that purpose to which you are here to fulfill being tied intimately with ones will to do that and charges us to pursue that will. There are many texts and lifetimes that have been devoted and spent in the search of understanding and interpretation of the message...a simple Google search will yield volumes... 93/93
