Flea and lice treatment with Advantage II gives your dog a safe solution that only needs to be applied once a month. Dogs and puppies older than 7 weeks and weighing over 55 lbs are fit for this flea and lice killing formula. This formula will kill fleas completely by eliminating their eggs and larvae by using a variety of ingredients and compounds. It contains a fast-acting formula that kills fleas quickly and prevents them from returning. Advantage II uses the compound pyriproxyfen to kill fleas and other insects by interfering with their maturity cycle. Targeting insects, pyriproxyfen does not affect mammals. Other flea killing properties like adulticidal, larvicidal, and ovicidal kill fleas and prevent them from emerging again. Imidacloprid paralyzes fleas so they are killed before biting your dog and also reduce the incidence of flea-related allergies. At first we were put off a bit due to the cost of this stuff. We tried getting it through eBay. Don't do that. There are people on there selling what we suspect is expired and less effective treatment. Stupid mistake to make but we did it, and we have learned. This medicine is worth it for keeping the fleas off the creatures. And it is good fun too. They see you coming with it and they scatter in all directions. It doesn't appear to cause them discomfort. Easy to apply, fast working
My husband and I have used this and the version for cats for years and it works great. Sometimes fleas get immune to certain flea medications in certain areas, but it works where we live in GA and also in NC where my sister lives. Although our cats are not a fan of the process, it goes on fast which really helps when they won't sit still! It kills fleas quickly, within 12 hrs they are dead. I suggest using Adam's flea spray to treat your house as well so you don't get a reinfestation.

Opened box
When I received the package it was already opened. The medicine seemed to be fine but made me uneasy that the box was open.

Great for that dog with sensitive skin
Great formula even for dogs with sensitive skin. I have a white bull dog who has very very sensitive skin so anytime I ever give him and type of flea treatment he freak out and goes running around trying to wipe off the medicine. It was so sad so for the last 4 years I've been giving him oral flea treatment but I could not make it to the vet this last month and my mom gave me this to try again. I was able to put it on my dog with no problem he didn't seem to mind at all. He was flea free within the day! Worked very well and will keep using it

Did not work
I know flea populations can vary in what works, which is why I gave it a 3. I've always had success with advantage in the past, though, which has me wondering if this was the real thing or a fake.

Works great on my pets
Works great on my pets, much better than Frontline. I used Frontline for over a decade, but noticed in recent years it doesn't seem to be nearly as effective. Within 24 hours of using Advantage II I saw almost 100% reduction in the amount of fleas (we moved into a house that had an unknown infestation and have been battling bugs for 4 months, ugh). We were using Frontline during those first few months and saw very little improvement, even with deep cleaning the house, vacuuming and taking the cannister outside to empty, spraying our yard, etc. Hopefully this will help kill what's left in the house that winter won't take care of!
