Q: I've read HP should be in brown bottles does it matter this is in a white container?

My understanding is that it should be in an opaque a container as possible to avoid being subjected to direct sunlight, to avoid deterioration of the cleaning effect. However, a white container kept out of sunlight on a dark cupboard will do the same. Just don't store it in open daylight and if you transfer smaller quantities to a bottle, like I do, then choose a brown bottle or other opaque bottle.

Hi Ashley, I found mixing 1 part of hydrogen peroxide with 3 part of water and then really drenching the entire soil worked. You have to be patient as it takes about a week to 10 days to kill both larvae and eggs in the soil. Also once you’ve done this get some horticultural grit from the garden centre and cover the surface of the soil in the plant pot. This stops the adult gnats being able to land and burrow down to lay more eggs. To catch the flying adult gnats put apple cider vinegar in a saucer, add a teaspoon of sugar and a squirt of washing up liquid (yellow if possible - they think it’s a flower decaying!) then put it next to the houseplant. Tilt your head to one side and dispense a few drops of the preparation and you will hear a gurgling sound in your ear. Keep your head in this position for up to 3 minutes.
