Viral Extreme Silver ColorWash by GEM LITES

Updates at bottom! I've used this product in 3 different colors so far and here are the things that I like and dislike about them. First off, let it be known that the Viral shampoos and conditioners work better are hair that is already colored. I know a lot of negative reviews about this product feature things like, "it didn't color my hair at all" and what not and that is because when you are doing it on blonde/lightened/bleached hair, it doesn't work as great (in my opinion). I first used this product in purple and because of my hair type, I have to wash my hair everyday, which means my color fades out that much faster. I like to use this shampoo every other day, with regular shampoo in the days in between, to make my color last longer. I'm talking like 3 months without having to redye my hair. The shampoo is a super saturated color that puts in pigments your hair without having the harsh factor of pure dye. As a shampoo, it's decent but with my hair type, I have to super clean my hair with my other shampoo on the other days I use it because this one doesn't wash it as well. I like to have it sit in my hair for a few minutes before washing it out and I usually have it in my hair for at least 10-15 minutes on the weekend while I shave and whatnot. I've also used the shampoo in the "teal" and silver colors. I put teal in quotations because that color isn't really teal to me, it's more of an aquamarine. But it worked just as well as the purple did in keeping the color in my hair. I've used the turquoise in the Viral Conditioner but I didn't like the conditioner as much as the shampoo as I felt it didn't hold the color as good. I used the "teal" shampoo for 3 months and then the aqua conditioner for 2 1/2 months right afterward and my blue color lasted for 6 months without having to redye it. I'm currently using the silver and it's probably the one that has worked the least best. I know silver is an extremely hard color to manage and keep up but I feel like I need to be using it everyday to hold the silver color. And I've been told that people can only really notice the silver in certain lighting, otherwise, it just looks blonde. I'm still giving this shampoo 5 stars because I know it works well with certain colors. I'm sure that eventually I will be trying out every color and I hope they work just as well. PROS: Makes color last a few months if used every other day Shampoo doesn't dry up or damage hair Teal and purple work well CONS: Only really works well with pre-dyed hair Not a great shampoo to clean oily hairtypes Silver needs to be used everyday to be maintained Update: I just redyed my hair a vivid purple ombre and bought the purple shampoo again. It still works perfectly but I did forget to mention in my previous review that the shampoo has a tendency to dye your hands when you shower. I noticed that if I don't wash my hands quickly enough after shampooing my hair, I might have some purple tinge to my hands for a bit of the day (especially if they are really dry and cracked - blame Canadian winters). It will always come off after a couple of hand washes though. It will even slightly tinge your nails so just a forewarning to be careful and don't let it linger on your hands for too long!

My hair was bleached twice, I've got metallic silver hair initially. I bought Silver thinking it can bring the color back. It made my hair super dry and damaged and it hasn't improve the color of my hair.

Brilliant shampoo for grey hair. Leaves my hair shining silver. I have been using this shampoo for 2/3/4yrs I wouldn’t use at other. It keeps the colour a natural silver. Well worth the cost.
