Makita LW1401 Cut-Off Saw, 14"

For the price, and based on a few reviews, I expected an "adequate" tool. It was better than I expected, starting with the weight. This saw is well built with a metal base and steel clamp/miter components Yet, when the motor is locked down it is easy to move.. Very powerful motor, makes short work of thick walled tubing. I haven't cut any flat stock yet, so I have no input there. Like others have said, be wary of your background as it makes sparks aplenty. The tool-less wheel mount is also a plus. No need to worry about losing the wrench. Seems to hold the wheel very tightly. If you need a handy cutoff saw for occasional jobs or projects, I highly recommend this Makita saw!

This a great saw for the money it is not a precision tool, lt is fairly accurate. FYI chop saws only have three rubber feet because the foot behind the blade would catch on fire. I would highly recommend this saw.

Used first day . Worked great ,easy,fast on a metal gutter .

I noticed on several reviews that there are only 3 rubber feet, same here, but in my case I don't need the feet cause mine is mounted on a stand.. --- anyone that is willing to pay postage I'll send them a rubber foot.

Typical makita tool. Works great and is great quality. Much better then my harbor freight one it replaced and not too much more $$.

Good little cutter. Works for me. Would have given it a 5 star if the clamps were a little sturdier and the angle guild was easier to use. But it works for my home projects. Cut slow and double check your adjustments on the angles.

Great tool at a great price. A little heavier then expected since it is solidly built.

I just want to say the other person who said that the saw cuts a bit off is correct! I am a welder and part time fab I saw that review and thought maybe the fence wasnt square so I used a 12" speed square to square up and still didn't fix so when cutting 1/4 tube or angle iron it will be slightly off at the end. Ive tried soft pressure med pressure hard pressure when cutting all has the same results unless you cut thin steel. (and yes I leveled everything on my table so the steel was level when being cut) OVER ALL DECENT BUT NOT ACCURATE ENOUGH TO RELY ON WILL ALWAYS NEED TOUCH UP WITH YOUR GRINDER FOR TIGHT FIT UPS. I am also a die hard makita fan so this made me slightly upset.

Great product for a great price. Only used it for a month but it has more power and tighter clamping than my last no-name cutoff saw. Highly recommend for a Home use Cutoff saw.
