These are so much better than the boring songs in my grade three lesson book. Very expressive. A nice assortment of short pieces.

These short pieces accomplish several goals. First they are excellent for developing nuanced playing. Second they provide experience in all the major and minor keys. Third, they do this using early intermediate skill level. The size of chords are very manageable for small hands (Although octaves are used, dense and tiring textures are not employed.), yet the sounds evoked are satisfying for all age levels.

If you love to play the piano this book is a must. I would rate it advanced but not too hard to sit down and enjoy with a little practice. The songs are simply beautiful and unique and it’s fun to play in all the keys.

Piano teacher recommended this book. It has some nice songs. Short, two pages.But not all are easy. I am learning Fountain of Diana and it's a workout for me. But I enjoy the pieces.

I bought this book for a student who has a very unique taste in repertoire. Though this book is titled "in Romantic style"- I would classify it more as 20th/21st century. The songs are unique in style and theme. It's also a great aide for helping the intermediate student learn key signatures. Some of the songs are quite challenging but are balanced out by their brevity. None of them are too long.

I love using this book for my intermediate students before introducing them to Chopin, Schumann, and Schubert works. Gillock's beautiful melodies do a nice job of mimicking the romantic style. He also sequenced the 24 preludes in key order, so the systematic key signature order can also be a good teaching tool.
